I didn't realize that this was an old thread but it makes no difference to what I have to say. I don't have any reason to complain I am more than happy with the features on the GR site. They enable me to build my tree and what is more I have a very enjoyable time doing it. |

Barbara/Jane I see that this is the second old thread that you've resurrected ...and this misleads people into thinking that they're new threads. Is there any reason why you've brought out two 'complaining' threads instead of starting one of your own? Mandy |

I think it is a good idea. Yes, it would be nicer if it were updated more quickly, but this sort of program is not that easy to write. We do name matching at work (looking for people on black lists etc) and it is always a compromise between coming up with too many possibles and missing the real ones. It also take a lot of computing power, which is why Ge-reu have to phase is. Some have complained that it comes up with too many matches - at present, as far as I know, it only matches name and dob. So on that basis it is doing what it says on the tin, just a bit tough if you are a Smith or a Jones. Some complain it has found too few - perhaps there is nothing out there to match with. If you want to troll through names manually, then fine - and a lot of people find this activity part of the fun. I agree with Elaine's sentiments, lets give it a chance and stop whinging all the time. |

Paul I have just read your thread all the way through. Sorry but I cannot believe you have found 400 TRUE additions to your tree within two weeks. Absolutely NOT posssible. It takes longer than that to get the 'proof' i.e. the certificates from the GRO. Nevertheless, I wish you well with your research. |

Hello Paul I just want to say that I am happy with Hot Matches. They have come up with the people that I am already in contact with but they are not to know that and surely, therefore, that proves that the system DOES work. I have also found someone that I am 99.5% sure is related, but they did not respond to my e-mail to them - but GR cannot be blamed for that. I know that we all tend to get a bit frustrated when we are trying so hard to make family connections - but this cannot be blamed on GR either. I just have to say HOT MATCHES gets my VOTE. It is a great idea and a lot of fun. I hope you find MATCHES soon, Paul. |

Of course this petition will work....wont it ? There is a report a problem section at the bottom of this page which im sure that Genes will read, even if they dont have an immediate answer to your problems. Elaine x ps,Im sure people would moan if Genes withdrew the new service completely seems they cant win Dammed if you do....dammed if you dont.... |

To me, it's an extra - free- facility which you can use if you want, ignore if you don't. Although most, if not all, of my Hot Matches are not linked (haven't had confirmation yet lol) it's good to have that facility. :-) |

mine have still not been updated since the original ones. So not happy at all with it. Why say they will be updated every 2 weeks, its been about 6! |

No because I should get my first ones within a few days of joining. At it's besides the point anyway. I have read various threads on here over that last fortnight, many people havent had their updated for over 12 WEEKS! and they have updated their tree a lot!! I'm making my point now before i have to wait 12 weeks! |
