My hubby lops my hair occasionally!! I doubt I spend £5 a year on it (couple of bottles of shampoo/conditioner and that's it) Of course, I look gorgeous!!!! LOL (good job you can't see!) I hate going to a hairdresser - I take our children though!! They both have a dry cut. For my son at the barbers, nothing is too much trouble - they take ages getting it just right, everyone friendly, lovely place - costs £7 and he looks GREAT afterwards.............For my daughter, I have to plead with a crabby woman with a 1970's perm as to whether she will trim the ends??? Takes her about three mins max, costs £8.........Yet the men say they will not cut a womans hair coz ''they are too fussy'' LOL!! Merry

ooo Sue, that comment made my blood boil.they charge'so much' because they train for 3 years to do a highly skilled job which is a lot more than cutting hair, which ,in itself is technical but they also have to learn about the make up of hair and what happens when you put colour etc on hair.

I think hairdressers charge far too much, I don't know why they charge so much really. In London you can pay a fortune.

I pay £34 for colour, cut and blowdry. Have it done every six weeks on a tues as its half price for pensioners on tuesdays & wednesdays. So £68 pound full price isnt that bad compared to London prices. Shirley (who lives in Kent)

Kat, Im going to have mine done today, and they have said it will be.. starting at $86.00 for highlights and starting at $26.00 for the cut, used to pay about £50. for it all in the UK 16 months ago, so with the tip today it should be about the same (if you think of the price increase that would have happened in the time I have been gone) Debs x

About £100 for full head highlights, cut and blow dry. Same local salon I have used for years. The prices have just risen again...I never leave a tip now! Unfortunately most of the trendier local salons charge a similar or even higher price (especially GW). And London would be much more expensive. OUCH -just realised I am spending about £400 to £500 a year on my hair. Dee x

£15 for cut and blow dry. Luckily I have naturally wavy (curly when it hasn't been washed for a day LOL) hair. Don't bother about colouring as my hair is a real mixture of colours anyway.

£7 for cut and blow dry - although I always skip the blow dry 'cause it makes me feel queezy. I think my colour comes in at about £15.

I am very lucky. My friend was a good hairdresser in Islington before having her kids. She comes to my house and does base colour, highlights, cut and blow dry. She has taken pity on my reduced circumstances I think and now charges me £30 for the lot! She also cuts the kids - daughter has very thick/long hair - and charges I think about £9 for both of them. I just couldn't afford to go to a salon, wouldn't know where to go for a start! Maz. XX

£19 Cut & blow dry £50 Foil highlights. That's in Bradford though some local salons charge in excess of £30 for a cut and over £70 for a colour - what's that saying 'A fool and his money is easily parted'! I bet we all just go less often since prices got so high - so they are no better off. Jacquie

I pay for a wet cut and it costs £8.50 what narks me is if a barber did it it would be £5.50. I have a number 3 at the back and a trim on top and sides. I go straight home and wash and dry it myself as I never liked it when the stylist had blow dried it ,so it was a waste of money! I used to colour it myself until I had a reaction to the toner so now don`t bother-Au naturelle with silver streaks LOL Diane:)))
