Turkey is not a favourite of ours other than in a curry or a stir fry. We will be having a roast joint of sirloin beef, bought it yesterday and my, it does look good.

Granny

Granny Report 16 Dec 2005 22:55

Lucky you Bob. We have done that on the odd occasion, but not easy now as my Grandson is a very fussy eater. Granny

Fussy eaters go hungry in our house - We hae dealt with the child who only ate crisps and the boyfriend who lives on burgers. When they are hungry enough they will eat.

He is stubborn as well Bob, if you said he would do without he would litterally do just that. We have tried all the old, tried and tested ways. Now we get what we can down him. He is 11 by the way. Granny

Granny It depends how long you have got - if it's only the odd meal then you have to make the best of it. You need them full time to win the battle

Well Bob I only have him on Friday and Saturday nights. I have got to admit that my own 2 would never have got away with it, but Grandchildren are different aren't they?

David Report 16 Dec 2005 23:21

I did beans on toast for my 4 grandchildren. Rachel was very slow eating hers. I said 'don't you like beans?' She replied 'Not really.' I said 'You should have said and I'd have done you something else.' (I'd already done tomatoes for another family member.) We're not alowed to complain about food, It's rude.' she said. David

That is sweet Dave. What a good child she must be. Kids today are so different to how we were, our parents could get away with serving your uneaten dinner at the next meal, but kids today would still not eat it. My opinion anyway. Granny

No granchildren yet (my lovely daughter is only 18) so I can only speculate. Davo You should be pleased - just remember not to put beans on the menu next time to avoid the problem. Give the little blighters some oily fish with broccolli - they will love it. LOL

Honestly Bob all parenting skills go out of the window when the Grandchildren arrive. (and no I do not spoil him). They are such fun to be with, it is not like your own where you are the parent so are trying to keep them on the straight and narrow, all you need to do is have fun with them. Granny

Then send em back to mum LOL

David

David Report 16 Dec 2005 23:31

When serving lunch I asked the children if they liked things as I served them. My daughter said 'Don't ask them, serve them everything. When the eldest 3 came to stay when they were quite small, my daughter phoned to ask how they are getting on. My wife said they are getting quite attached to black olives and goat's cheese. 'They can get unattached to it' she replied. Now they are 5, 8 and 9, they still like olives and goat's cheese. David

No Bob, I don't have to send him back, I baby-sit in his own place, then I can send him to bed, and have peace and quiet until his Mum and Dad come back from work, then I get taken home. It give me a night away from hubby (peace & quiet - once Chris has gone to bed), I love it. Granny
