Thanks Joan, :-) it's not A-Level, it's Scottish Higher. I'm seriously worried about maths too. I did the exam and as soon as I got out I started crying (really). It was all too much for me. |

Lucia - just take a little time for yourself and I am sure everything will come right. You have been working so hard lately - don't beat yourself up about these results when it is the teacher being unreasonable. Maybe Lukas will cheer you up. |

Lucia, Deanna is absolutely right and there are a couple of other things I'd like you to remember. 1 You are NOT a failure - this is just a bump in the road called life 2 You have NOT failed to reach your potential, your teacher has failed to recognise it, even sabotaged it. It's horrible when teachers behave this way, and unfortunately, because they're human, some of them do. Hugs and best wishes, Felicity |

Lucia, Most people at when I was at school including many of my friends believed (it turns out) that I would not really amount to nothing. I clashed with my English teacher something fierce, I really hated her. According to her I just never got it, What they forget is that every interpretation of a text is different. I'm sure what we read and interpret from some classics is no where near what the authors interpretation was. I only scraped through in English. Since then I've surprised everyone. I've travelled a lot of the world and still am. I'm currently working as an English teacher in China. I always endevour to prove everyone wrong when every they say something negative. It's my life I'll do with it what I want no matter what they say and think. As for this teacher, show him his previous notes and ask him to make up his mind on how he wants you to present your work. It might be smug but you could always tell him not to be so hurt that you're a better person than he is, you can't help it if you're smarter than him. Gypsy Joe PS I'm now good friends with my old English teacher as well |

Lucia, The same thing happened to my daughter too. Her teacher told her that I was wasting my money paying for ger to take GCSE's, she proved him wrong though, she passed and with good marks. Its the teacher's problem not yours, just continue to do your best and prove him wrong. Good Luck. June xx |

Hi Lucia, Getting feedback from your English teacher is the best step to take, and try not to take it personally. Take note of what they say and put it in place in your next assignment. With regard to your maths, however, you say you are worried about failing and that you find the subject difficult. How can the teacher help you if you skive the lessons? Taking the 'ostrich approach' isn't going to help. Janice |

Thanks for your messages..it's not so bad now :-) got my maths today, 'bout 60% not too good but better than I thought I'd do. The truth is I didn't manage to revise everything in time for the exam. And I've had some feedback from English - will have to work harder! lol I got my German Oral Mark today - I got an A so I'm proud of myself for that. :-) Enjoy your evening everyone! |

Lucia, The teachers at my school used to mark down before major exams to try and spur us on to try harder. You can do no more than your best, and 60% in maths is more than double what I'd have got. I could never be bothered with maths once it got over my head and the teachers started getting cross with me instead of helping me to understand. I have one pass at the lowest stage of exam in Arithmetic, but it's never stopped me getting good jobs or earning a good salary. Don't be disheartened. Listen to the criticisms, and if you feel they could be justified, take appropriate action. If not, just do your best - nobody can expect more than that - and only YOU know what your best is. Don't beat yourself up over it. It's not the end of the world. CB >|< X |

Lucia you can only do your best and you did just that. Well done on today's marks - great news! Whether a teacher likes or dislikes you should not be relevant to your exams and it is disgraceful if they have been unprofessional enough to let this get in the way of fairness. My husband was disliked by a teacher who constantly marked him down and wrote in a report that he would never have a career in anything related to economics. He couldn't have been more wrong. Quite a joke in our family now and probably worth framing the report and putting it in the downstairs loo!!! I hope you get the grades you deserve. Head up and look forward! Daisy |

Thanks CB, I always get very worried about how I do because had to work at least a little to get that grade and others don't bother and get straight A's - unfair! lol :-) |

Thanks Daisy :-) Actually I've just been thinking about it. A friend of a friend did English last year. In his mock exam he failed but then in the real thing he got an A. I guess anything is possible so I'll try to put the work in. :-) |

Hey Lucia Dont worry to much about your prelims. I think i failed all my Higher prelims bar one but in the final exams i did pretty well. I came to the conclusion that prelims are just there to give you a kick and a shock especially in 5th/6th year when you think applying for Uni, College is so far away but its not. It'll be your exams in May/June that really matter (unless you've got a folder to make up) so chin up! Mhairi (who failed almost every prelim and NAB (dont you just hate nab's?), still! has one NAB to do before she gets her full award in Psychology but is now in Uni) |

my sister is a teacher and one of the other teachers didn't like her. Then when the horrid teacher found out that my kids were her nieces and nephews she started marking them down. if you know you've done your best then you haven't really got anything to worry about. what are you studying by the way lucia? regards hannah |
