Cats are out on their own and so are their owners :-) I reckon you either love them or hate them. All the cats I have had have loved dry and tinned food although I have found all cats prefer variety rather than expensive food. Also noticed all the cats l have owned have loved processed meat whether its ham, salamis, pork from pork pies (my son loves the pastry but always fed our cats the contents). I would say Diana thats why your cat likes Kebab meat. Do others not find cats prefer chicken to fish? not one of my cats were that partial to prawns or even a bit of crab meat :-( I have two these days Minnie and Sam (brother and sister) and the vet recommended a new food called 'Royal Canin' by Waltham it is a dry cat food which is a balanced diet, my two little ones love it, so they get that more than any food now and it works out less expensive than buying whiskas especially when you end up throwing out some of the unwanted bits from the tins :-( Pat x

Hi Just reading some of the replies to this message how funny!!!! Just made my afternoon, I'm sitting here watching my Tom Cat munch his way through a packet quavers. But his favourite meal is Curry and Rice followed by Marsh Mallows. And i though he was strange but looks like he's not the only one Regards Cheryl

well, cats are like children aren't they - all have their fads & fancies. Had many many diifferent purries over the years, not found ONE (until very recently) that wouldn't eat fresh fish, most would kill for tinned salmon or tuna. Most lick the tomato sauce off pilchards - but eat the pilchards if its all mashed in. So why don't they like fishy-flavoured cat food? One of my current cats, a sorrel abyssinian who is nearly 16, likes wenseydale & cheddar cheese, but won't eat red leicester. He also eats melon (galia being his favourite). He will eat crisps, prawn crackers, spagetti and most things we leave on our plate, until its transferred to his own dish, when he looks disgusted and walks away. It was a bit of a shock finding out that our youngest cat, now nearly 8, will eat most tinned foods and dried foods, but doesn't seem to have cottoned on to the fact that raw meat is edible. She won't eat prawns or fish at all. By the way, if mouse or sparrow is so appetising, how come they leave most of it, messily disembowelled, all over the path?

Ours have got their own room,Plus bed,and if it seems a little cold even with the heating on ,they worry us untill we switch on their electric blanket, and won,t go back on there untill it is warm enough. I think that if I come back,it will be as a cat,as long as they leave me 'Un-neutered' for a few years. Hal. :o)))))))>

I had a brilliant book about cats for Christmas, which was full of interesting cat info, including the fact that cats are not naturally fish eaters (although some certainly do enjoy the taste). Cats' origins are in the desert and so never ate fish as a result of their own hunting. Apart from the odd stolen goldfish, modern cats only eat fish as supplied by their owners. Apparently, after the second world war, when meat was in short supply, and fish was a much more readily available and cheap source of protein, pet food manufacturers used it in their advertising, and the association of cats and fish has remained ever since. If cats were given both voice and choice, they would opt for mouse and sparrow flavoured food which us humans find horrid, hence the variety of more humanly palatable flavours of pet food available. Hal i totally agree..... she thinks she picked me at the rescue centre that day and I now have to pander to her every whim. She even has her own duvet on the spare bed cos she can't stand clean bedding!! She also gets grumpy if anyone stays and uses her bed!! :O) And yes they do get clean bedding but once thats removed her duvet goes back on!! :O)

Dianna,What you have got is just a normal bloody minded controlling Moggie, who thinks like all the other cats that you were put on this earth just to pander to it wishes. Enjoy it,because the affection you get in return is Priceless. Hal. with three cats who have all the above qualities.

Sounds a bit like our cat. The vet told us 'sounds like your cat has never been hungry'. She costs us a small fortune but she's worth it. len
