Now I have seen that you have Benjamin and Harriet Isabella in your tree c.1790 Ihave made further searches for that period in France but cannot trace either name which are surely not very French. Turning to the IGI, as I guess you have, you will note that there weas a Benjamin who married an Elizabeth Seagreaf in 1792 - St Mary's Whitechapel. IGI does not appear to have more info than that but maybe it is worth your while going to the London Met Archives and searching for anything they may have for that period .... in Whitechapel ? Naturally these Vitou may not have had their origins in France ...... Belgium maybe ? COURCHA appears to prevail in the East End too.

The Courcha family I cannot trace in France - past or present, however there were Vitou. Not very strong in numbers but the main area since 1890 was in th Languedoc-Rousillon region in the South of France - Dept. No. 34. It is possible that there may have been an association of Vitou/Courcha due to the proximity of Dept. 34 to the Spain - sorry I dont know much about Spain. There were isolated pockets of Vitou in some other areas of France - maybe even just across the Channel but I must stress that these were few in number. Difficult to get any info without knowing where they were born - as with most Euro countries b.m.d Do you have any forenames and dates ? To give you further idea of numbers - in France period 1891-1915 there were only 24 Vitou births in the whole country; 1966 -1990 only 43 so you can see that it is not Strong. In the Nord Dept (border with Belgium) births were 4 in the first period and only 1 in recent times.

reminds me of a spanish lesson...... a spanish tourist was in New York, and was impressed by the size of the buildings, and occasionally would ask a passerby ...' to june belonge date buldo?' the new yorker would reply, with a thick new york accent '' ah don' understand'' further along they came to the woolworth building, and again asked 'to june belonge date buldo?' and again would come the reply.....'' ah don' understand' At the end of the day the tourist said to his wife. this 'DON Ondestan' must be a very rich fellow.....to own all those buildings........
