Tales of the desert.... hmmm I'll add a few details later, but to be honest I only actually wrote 2 days of my diary - lost the will to write it on Tuesday. Had a brilliant time though.

Gwen, how did they go to the loo ? how do you think lol At the camp each night there were two tents, with hole dug in the floor. On our walks, it was a case of... find the nearest dune/tree. June... no, didn't lose my memory, however some days did tend to merge into one by the end of the week... I did however lose all my money and my mobile phone... Paul

Unknown Report 20 Mar 2006 07:22

No gossip. Sorry, but its true. I think everyone would have been too bloody knackered anyway lol THere were actually more trees than I would have expected on some days, but on others... very few and far between. On the last couple of days, the terrain was almost completely flat, with no cover at all, no dunes, no vegitation... so it was just a queston of hanging back a bit behind the group, drop your pants and get on with it...

Would you do it again

Unknown Report 20 Mar 2006 07:32

Yes it was as tough as expected. Hotter than we though, we weer expecting high 20's most days, we got high 30's - one day we hit 43 degrees. It was also a lot windier than we expected - one afternoon we walked into a headwind, which you can imagine is horrible with all that sand. The next afternoon was even worse, and everyone was taken on to camp in a landrover, except a couple of us who braved it with the guides and tried to walk it. Only got about halfway though, had to give up and go on the camels. Which I didn't enjoy at all !!! Feet ? they vary. Mine are fine, no problems at all. Quite a few ended up with blisters. Poor Tracey, her feet were in a terrible state, I don't know how she managed to keep walking, she was in pain with every step for most of the week - an incredible show of determination.
