My little Dachsund, has brilliant temperment, looks, farely obidiant, and they can live a long while.

I have always had Shetland sheepdogs - they are intelligent, love children and very pretty. My second choice is Border Collies. Stella

Dorothy my Late nan was welsh and lived in Treochy, have so many relies there. My nethew is in the welsh show belonging and was also in casualty.

Definatelty English Bull Terriers!! Not too much in the brain department, but extremely funny and loyal! Have 2 and wouldn't be without them.

i have a staffordshire bull terrier we rescued him from a man who thought it was fun to use him as a football and somewhere to put his cigarettes out he had a tough life in the beginning and could have turned nasty, but because he has had loads of love from all our family he has turned into the biggest lovable softy going, the vet said he is just grateful to be safe i have had people shout at me in the street because i refuse to put a muzzle on him but he has never bitten anyone (not even the a******e who we took him off) so i dont see why i should i understand that like shepperds they have a bad rep but like someone said there is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners sorry to get on my soap box but i feel very srongly about this sue x

I have only ever had border collies - so a bit biased. My jude is the most loveable dog ever - just ask the residents of the old peoples home, they love her to bits. Lynda x

I have to agree with Heather & the others, staffordshire bull terrier, I've had them for years, as long as their treat with lots of love & attention, best dog ever, I have a rottweiler & a Jack russell as well & their all very well behaved & very obedient , so you cant go wrong with any really, still top my staffie though!!

We have a border collie x beared collie he is 17 and still wonderful. He is loyal and brave and has a wonderful temprament and we shall really miss him when he does go to doggy heaven, I am dreading the day brenda

We had a lovely King Charles Cavilier,,,,,He was a good dog with the children when they were in the pram,would stand between people and the pram.....long time ago now...Lovely natured...........

i have a lovely little miniture cairn terrier called jess shes fully grown and stands 8 & half inces high shes gorg i have to say that cairn s are the best but of course i would say that as she she sat looking at me now with her little adorable eyes lol

My most faithful and loyal dog was a mongrel part collie and ? theother was a miniture black poodle that followed my wife everywhere and very intelligent xxxxxxHoward

Unless you have lots of time, and oodles of patience DONT have a springer spaniel.I am convinced she is brain damaged! totally loyal , BUT would have the postmans fingers off! also stress incontinent - and it doesnt take a lot of stress either! We love her to bits, and guess there is something wrong with her , because she is just so odd - my last one was a dream. Bobbin is 4 now, and doesnt get a lot better whtever we do- she is just her! jess

Jess I agree with what you are saying about Spaniels. I think they are by nature quite highly strung. I grew up with a wonderful Welsh Springer and she was the exception to this rule, then I got a black Cocker Spaniel who had Rage Syndrome and had to be put to sleep age 4. Broke my heart. Not to be deterred, I got a Spaniel cross breed who has turned out to be every bit as highly strung but without the raging part as the Cocker and to be honest, much as I love him, he's 8 now, and I would not consider any Spaniel again. I think they're a lovely breed but they are such hard work. I'm sticking with Border Collies and Miniature Poodles now.

Like Jane I also have 2 English Bull Terriers. Before you get these dogs make sure your house is bomb proof, get rid of the cat and get used to the Bully Run (manic charging all over the house!!) Make sure YOU get trained and quickly realise that the whole world exists for these dogs and everything you have belongs to them. On the other hand they are so funny and smiley and really good with other people and children and are aboslutely beautiful and loyal and faithful. Sue xx

Border Collie without doubt! I have just lost one :-( so only have one now. If my husband is reading this ...... I don't mind which breed it is , yes I promise to do my share of the walking just get me a puppy!!

I absolutely love Border Collies and wouldnt hesitate in having another one, but I also adore Alsations, Labradors, Retrievers and Rottweillers amongst many others, ( I am a doggy person as you can tell ) At the moment I have a Rottweiler cross Alsation and he is the most loving faithful dog besides my Border Collies that I have ever had.
