My cousin has a new girl, Melea, and already has a daughter, Narena. I'd never come across the names before and I think perhaps it's a bit pretentious lol :-)

My auntie has given her kids more uncommen names. Shelby, Sian and Summer, aren't that unusual, but more uncommon that the rest, and the boys are; Jayden and Corey. My great x3 Uncle was called 'Studwell'

My brother's name isn't unusual but there isn't anyone in town with that name - Henry. I love old fashioned names. :-)

I found the name Mahala in my family tree. I think there's been a thread about unusual names people have come across in their family tree. Some of them I think were rather funny.

Cant say im a lover of unusual names. My first name is Keiley and I have had a lifetime of people misspelling it and pronouncing it wrong, im called Keely, Kelly, Kylie. Now I just accept them saying my name wrong as I am fed up of correcting them. p.s Im over 30 and when I was a kid there were no Keileys about, but I believe its a bit more popular now.

Aileen

Aileen Report 23 Aug 2006 10:18

Welcome Chandi and nice to meet you. My name, Aileen (pronounced Ay-leen) has always caused confusion. People call me Eileen, Elaine, Alien and anything else that comes to mind. Aileenx

Isn't it funny how, not so much now but the last generation don't use there given names... My mums name is Sarah but has always been known as Sally. My dad's name is William but always known as George, his middle name. Whilst doing one line of my tree I noticed names I had for G aunts n uncles etc weren't infact their given names....it can be so confusin at times..!!

Lindy

Lindy Report 23 Aug 2006 10:32

Lucia, Try living with the name Lindzay, you get called everything else but...and the spelling is never correct. School was a nightmare! Letters arrive addressed to 'Dear Sir'. Junk mail offering me 'Penis enlargement cream', I tried answering back to tell them that I don't have one, but the emails bounce back... I think that my Mother does not like me...I was supposed to be called Rosalie after my paternal Grandmother, but I know that my Mother did not like her. Lindy ;-))))

Julie

Julie Report 23 Aug 2006 10:35

Lol Lindy....don;t you know anyone who you could recommend for their product..?? Aileen.....It's a nice name isn't it. Yet to come across another.
