Just looking through the Names Dictionary and came across the forename Lilith. It states: |

She is said to have been turned into an ugly demon for refusing to obey him (Isaiah 34:14)” I always understood that Christians considered Eve to have been the first woman (according to the Bible anyway). Is this not so? |

Yes, Daniel, this has caused a lot of problems in family research. Apparently Adam stated that he was a bachelor on his marriage cert to Eve, whereas he should have said that he was either widowed or divorced. The records of the period are very scanty and no death cert for Lilith has been found. Some people claim that Lilith and Adam had children prior to Adam's sons with Eve. As women didn't have the vote, we can't find Lilith on the electoral register either:-( nell |
