I was going to post this on Dan's thread but got a bit carried away so decided to put it on it's own thread. See below.

Just the other night I was thinking how much I miss threads such as 'Hevs Corners', fun threads where you could talk to friends about anything and everything. Threads where everyone was welcomed and there was a lot of fun but no falling out. Unfortunately, lately, people seem to be staying away from the boards because of all the arguing, back stabbing and general nastiness that has been going on and these threads don't seem to be around quite the same. Even the ones that do come up are getting fewer replys because people are staying away. I appreciate that some people are not on as often because they have other things going on in their lives but even then they had things going on but still found the time to come on even if only for an hour or so. You could come on most nights and find at least one of these types of threads, now it seems to be once every so often. I for one miss them and hope they come back on soon and that we can start having fun again. I also hope that we can have debate threads that stay just that, debates where people put their opinions and respect the fact that others may not agree with them but they too have the right to their own opinions and have the right to post them. I didn’t always add to debate threads but I used to enjoy reading them and reading others views sometimes made me consider points I may not have thought of before although this did not necessarily change my own views. One last thing, people don’t always agree, the important thing is to respect the fact that each of us has the right to our own opinion.

Very well said, Julie, and thoughtfully put. As I said on another thread, if all the fun, wise, bright, compassionate members, stay away, it will be left to the troublemakers. And that would be a great pity. So keep on posting, everyone, and let us bring back the fun. BC XX

i agree julie but i think Mandy was right when she said people are afraid to post. it is like walking on eggshells here, no one wants to say anything for fear of upsetting someone. Bev

I have been on and off here all day since early morning - needless to say that - despite my hope of some light entertainment, there hasn't been an hour go by when a thread centering around recent events has been dominating page 1 !!! Quite frankly - getting bored with it all now - like a bad dream that keeps recurring - and it's certainly detracting from the easy going fun atmosphere the Gen Board used to have unitl lately. So I have been watching the Carry On films on UK Gold - more entertaining at this time. Fingers crossed for normal service to be resumed soon xxxx

Hi I have been a member for quite some time and always read the threads but very rarely post as you just don't know how you will be recieved. I sometimes help out on the records board if i can but in general i tend to keep quiet and just lately its quite nerve wracking to even think of posting. But i quite agree about the fun threads and i always enjoyed reading them. Cathy
