Oh, and I like All Saints version of Under The Bridge. Was done by a man before whose name escapes me because he wasn't very famous! Cherie

nooooo much prefer the original (althogh the newr version isn't TOO bad). However, their new version of 'I think we're alone now' is one of THE worst records of the year, nay, the decade.

I almost always prefer the original versions of songs, especially when sung by those who wrote them in the first place. Tom Rush's version of No Regrets is better than any cover, even Scott Walker's whom I adore. I hate boy/girl band covers of anything - they seem to lose the soul of the song along the way. A few exceptions are Jealous Guy, already mentioned. Kirsty's version of the Kinks' Days Pet Shop Boys - You Were Always on My Mind Probably more - but as a general rule originals are the best. I also like Jamelia's cover of Linkin Park's NUMB

TOR

TOR Report 8 Dec 2006 15:25

Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters (cover) or Pink Floyd (original) Like both dependant on mood as to favourite. Wyclef Jean also covered this track - Beeping awful as is anything by Eva Cassidy. T.O.R. ;>))

I think I prefer the Sting version too... Can I also add that anything covered by Westlife is invariably better by the original artist.

No Fields of Gold By Sting! Somewhere over the Rainbow - Eva Cassidy is the best

Thought I'd resurrect this and add a new one... Hurt, covered by Johnny Cash - fantastic !!!

Haribo

Haribo Report 8 May 2006 15:46

Lou In Wigan

Lou In Wigan Report 8 May 2006 14:21

Paul

Paul Report 8 May 2006 14:19

I think the soft cell version of Tainted Love was in fact itself a cover...

Paul, Not sure about Days. I love Kirsty's version but grew up in my teens with the Kinks version and it has always been a favourite. Jacky :-)

Lou In Wigan

Lou In Wigan Report 8 May 2006 14:06
