To summarise, Two unfit strikers (we need to be realistic re: Rooney), 1 6ft Donkey and a KID who hasn't even seen the green in the Premier league. Walcott will be under a lot of pressure and if he doesn't perform could have his confidence dented before he's even kicked a ball for Arsenal. I feel so sorry for Bent and Defoe. You score for your club and then get completely overlooked for a kid who hasn't even scored in a nightclub!...Sorry Sven - bad move! I'm afraid with SWP it's a case of 'I told you so'... he might have a Championship medal in his pocket but the nearest he'll get to the World Cup this year is watching it on the television like us! Least our boys might get a decent summer holiday before next season....Roll on Steve McLaren...

Susie, like I said...us GR girls should have picked the team!! Poor Dean is still injured, but Marlon's a big strong boy with pace and an eye for goal. Matty Etherington...hello! There are sooo many of our young players that he's not even looked at, and I do mean from all clubs, not just my beloved!

Gwynne PMSL. Sven has picked a squad to lose the World Cup. Absolutely gobsmacked. Wayne Rooney : Theo Walcott : Peter Crouch : Owen Hargreaves : Stuart Downing should not be going. I could go on but am so despondent. Can't believe he has not put Defoe in the squad. Come back Kev... all is forgiven. Jean x.

LOL Gwynne, Another thought , bit more possitive!! There are 6 ex West Ham players and 1 current going (okay 2 are stand by). Now didn't West Ham win the 66 world cup?

Gwynne - PMSL.... At this rate Mickey Rooney might be welcome in the squad! xx

Isn't Mickey Rooney a bit old for football? And shouldn't he be playing for the USA? Puzzled of Warwickshire

Do you think he got the names mixed up, well he is foreign he might think Wright phillips is actually Owen. Or he watches different games to us. Some deserving players have now got to watch it back home instead of being out there and part of it. Hope McClaren does a better job but then he is assistant at moment wonder if he had much input?

I think all us girls on here have selected a better team than Sven!!(and guys...sorry!)Just watched Keirron Richardsons' goal against Charlton.....yet another we could have sent!!

I have to agree with the majority of views on here and say that I am not very comfortable with his selections. xx

Pete - Totally agree! How he has NOT included the top scoring Englishman this season I don't know...

Dont follow football these days, to many prima donna's, but I think Wayne Rooney had better borrow my old footy boots, you could kick a brick wall down with them without getting hurt, he'd probably send the ball through the net not just into it with them. Len

Note to Robinson, Carrick and James: Stay away from Walcott, Ashley Cole and Cambell at mealtimes! lol

Jane

Jane Report 8 May 2006 15:07

Well lets just be thankful that Sven wont be around after, but keep our fingers crossed Steve McLaren doesn't stick with Svens' buddies for future games..lol!

Eriksson admitted he was taking a gamble after selecting untried Walcott, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for Arsenal after joining from Southampton in January. 'It is a gamble, of course it is a gamble I can't deny that but it is a nice one,' he said. 'He is a great talent. I have 23 players, why not take one gambling?' (source: www*bbc*co*uk)
