off topic a bit, daughter pointed something out to me today that I hadnt noticed before, she had to have blood test done. when the nurses take blood tests they dont seem to wash their hands before each patient, is this normal practise. this is at the local path lab. jean

jackie they done a study years ago and put peanuts chrisps an tested the ice machine behind a bar...they found faeces in all where the staff and customers didn't wash their hands...also in the peanuts...so next time you decide to grab a nut from the bar think againxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(((((:

lisa - never eat food from bowls on bars, for that very reason! Well, not unless I'm absolutely s**t faced - but those days are long gone now that I'm a mum. Jackie :-)))))))

I actually had a visit today from a Plebotomist from our hospital Path Lab. She uses an alcohol hand wash before and after each test, as they do in the hospital. That may be why your daughter did not see the nurse wash her hands. Deanna X

I was just going to say that - they don't wash their hands as such, they use an alcohol rub which sterilises their hands better than washing

At work, (I work in an office) we have the choice of soap & water, or the waterless soap, the same stuff they use in hospitals, and I use the waterless stuff most times, unless I have been using the date stamper, then I'm worse than kids for getting covered in ink...lol, by the way the waterless soap is also good for clearing up some skin conditions. paul and deanna, they must do it quick then, because the next patient goes in the same time the last one comes out. jean

I always wash my hands after using the loo. BUT I always wash them once, no need to wash them twice if you do it properly the first time. I always wash my hands after working with children at school, as although encouraged, not all of them wash their hands after loo time, and some may not do it properly. Saves passing on the nasties Elaine x
