Pretty much everyone feels some degree of nerves, usually it can just be the odd butterfly floating about as you're keen to want to make the right impression when meeting people for the first time. I still get it if I'm meeting up with someone for the first time, however I'm usually quite relaxed about it these days as I'm aware it's only natural to feel that way due to the excitement about how it will all unfold. Besides, if you don't experience some degree of nervous energy then you surely can't be living! |

Hi Julie My inability to read posts properly mean that I turned up at the Norwich meet without a clue as to which room, in a large hotel, we had arranged to meet in. Aargh! The thought of walking up to strangers, muttering hopefully 'Are you from GR?' scared me rigid. But it went really, really well. As I am organising a trip to Kew on Saturday, I am starting to get nervous. What if I lose people? What if they don't enjoy themselves? The jacket potatoes at TNA are hardly the food of consolation. I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time. Certainly, if you back out, you'll regret it. Relax and enjoy! |

I did do in the beginning but now think of many GRers I've met as good friends and look forward to meeting more! When in doubt indulge in a glass or two... (or meal or two in Dan's case!) lol xx |

Yes, just reading about the meets makes me nervous! Can't imagine EVER plucking up the courage to go to one, and yet in 'real'life I am the least shy and nervous person I know!! I organise my school reunions and run fund raising events, etc! Maybe it's because I feel you all know each other- I probably need to be around a bit longer first? Denise |

Only person I've met is Anne (of the raven hair!) but yes, was a bit apprehensive. Needn't have worried though, she is a lovely lady with a lovely daughter. Poor girl told her dad she had met Woody Woodpecker - cartoons will never be the same again for her!!! Christine xx |

you know i often wonder how people i chat to on here imagine me to look. one lady who i have become good friends with on here ,got a surprise when i sent her a pic, she had imagined i looked completely different. i had to laugh at what she thought as its not the first time people had thought i fitted her discription of me. so if i ever get to a meet, no one will probably guess its me anyway. lol. Shirley Ann. |

I was really nervous about first meet and unfortunately didn't go so well for me. I'm thinking about going to next Scottish meet but not sure because it's so far away. I think you'll be fine. There seemed to be a friendly atmosphere at first meet I went to. |

Rag Dolly and I had our first meeting today,,,ok ,there were only two of us, but we are both exactly the same as we are on the boards.....Came for coffee at 10am and stayed till 3pm....Can't wait for our fort william meet. I think it helps to meet at least one person first... Gwen even phoned because she was missing out !! |
