Although the Police say this vehicle is not registered to anyone, I have just looked on the DVLA site and it is confirmed taxed until the end of November 2006. I know the car could have been sold on (we get it all the time at work - denial of ownership to avoid paying recovery and parking charges), but in my experience it is unusual for that much tax to still be valid. Normally the tax would be reclaimed. I hope the child is found safe & well soon, and that there is an explanation for the reports. Sue xx |

It has become quite usual, for certain people to buy, privately , vehicles that are '' Long time'' legal at the time of the sale, for just a couple of hundred pounds, and failing to re-notify as the new owners, therefore, as Sue says, avoiding those nasty parking tickets and more ....etc. Bob |

Just stated girl found and two men arrested on the radio - This was copied and pasted from bbc site though - A four-year-old girl has been found safe following a three-day hunt sparked when a man was seen apparently putting a child into the boot of a car. Two men were arrested on suspicion of child cruelty following the manhunt, South Wales Police said. Detectives were alerted by shoppers at a Sainsbury's store in Swansea, who reported seeing a girl being put in the boot of an estate car last Wednesday. The search was widened to include much of England on Saturday. |

I sincerely hope that this all comes out to be safe, BUT if its an estate, DOES it have a BOOT?.there might be a perfectly normal reason for the child to be in the back of an estate car.. ,Bob |

A four-year-old girl who went missing after apparently being locked into the boot of a car has been found 'safe and well'. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of child cruelty following a Uk-wide search for the girl who went missing on Wednesday. Police said she was found 'safe and well'. The search was sparked when the child was seen apparently being locked into the boot of a car near a Sainsbury's superstore in Swansea. Officers had been trying to trace the car, which is listed as having 'no owner'. A South Wales Police spokesman said: 'Two men have been arrested on suspicion of child cruelty and are currently detained at a police station in England. 'South Wales Police would like to thank the media and public for their assistance, and would like to commend the prompt reactions to our appeal which led to this successful result.' The spokesman would not say where the car and the girl were found or the circumstances and could not give ages for the two men, or say where they were from. Davex |
