Into mIcrowave bowl or glass measuring jug, or glass bowl - Whisk egg 1 per person + I extra, add knob of butter, salt and pepper if required, Grated cheese (as much as liked)or cheese spread triangle(s), splash of milk or dollop of cream, stir together lightly and microwave for a few seconds, stir, microwave again and stir, and microwave again, till it reaches the stage before you would eat it. Cover and leave to keep hot whilst you butter and spread marmite on toast (wholemeal or granary, never white). Serve and enjoy. You can add halved cherry tomatoes to garnish. |

Och tomatoes Merry! They should never see the darkness of the crispator in the fridge, lol! Always keep them on the windowsill. *I do hope this is a lighthearted thread otherwise I'm a dead duck* Talking of which, one should always hang a duck for at least a week. Cherryxx |

i make it the way my mum taught me. One medium egg per person. One spoonful of milk per egg. Salt and pepper to taste. Melt butter gently in pan. Whisk eggs, milk and seasonings (have also used fresh chopped herbs). Add to pan, stir all the time and cook over a very gentle heat until just firm and fluffy. I have also occasionally sauteed some bacon or mushrooms in the butter before adding the egg mix. Or, having added the egg mix, stirred in a bit of smoked salmon - those salmon trimmings they sell in supermarkets are good for this. nell |

This seems a very opinionated thread! (lol! I'm joking!).....so here's what I was thinking.................. Things I think are better from the microwave! Scrambled eggs Peas Steamed fish Very good for bringing tomatoes to room temperature! Starting off a jacket spud (into oven afterwards though) Sterilizing baby bottles I have never cooked junk food in a microwave........I do that in the oven! lol Merry |

Aw, microwaves, lol. Had one 'forced' on me in March by a well meaning neighbour who was chucking it out because it failed to do one of its umpteen functions. Never had one before in my life. Tried all sorts of things in it but as far as I'm concerned it's only good for cooking junk food and as we don't eat that, it's neither use nor ornament! Scrambled eggs: melt butter (no low fat rubbish) in saucepan, remove from heat, break eggs into saucepan and whisk with a fork, place on low heat, as soon as mixture glazes over remove from heat and whisk again. Don't add milk but a dollop of mayonnaise will add to the flavour. Cherry, Queen of the Aga Sagaxx |

1 small non-stick frying pan 1 knob jersey cream 1 egg 1 wooden spoon Put cream in pan, break egg into it and stir briskly. It's cooked by the time the toast is made. (I did try the microwave, but it was just too fiddly.) When we were kids, we made Piperade: a thick tomato and pepper stew with beaten egg stirred in at the last moment. Fried peppers, onions and chillis is a very good addition to scrambled eggs. |

Sorry here folks - eggs + water cooked in a frying pan turn into an omelette. Scrambled eggs are cooked in a bowl, without any milk cream or water (added after cooking) If you dont want to use the microwave method, it works equally well if you put the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, takes loinger and you have to stir all the time. But whatever - enjoy them, yummy comfort food. Olde Crone |

Ummmm those creamy eggs sound good. Came across a few tips while looking for a fish recipe this afternoon. They suggested flaking left over kipper into scrambled egg or chopping up a bit of smoked salmon! Maybe worth a try. Margaret |

Gillian The raw egg cooks in the heat of the already cooked egg, and in the microwave activity which goes on AFTER you have removed them from the microwave. OC (who wouldnt eat raw egg, either!) |

Right. How to make classic scrambled egg. Break eggs into a plastic pudding bowl. Whisk with a fork to break up and thoroughly combine. Remove and reserve a good spoonful of the raw egg mix. Put in microwave and cook in 10 second bursts, stirring with a fork at each 10 seconds. When you judge the egg to be cooked, add remaining raw egg and a big blob of butter OR cream, stir madly with fork and serve. When I worked in catering, this is how we did it, but keeping back one raw egg in five to stir into final cooked egg - and then we put it in the milkshake mixer! Yummy, creamy eggs. Olde Crone |
