Well I really do hope Ronaldo gets some stick from the other players at Man U.....he has nothing to be proud of. He's a good footballer so why does he take so may dives and cheat??? He needs a good talking to! He definitely had it in for Rooney. Linda

Yes I saw the pschying up of Rooney and the wink from Ronaldo. I don't like Rooney but certain Portugal players were determined to get Rooney sent off. Which they achieved but don't hold with football players stamping on the other sides player. Sue

to me rooney had his back to player so how he supposed to no he stepping on his privates,yes may be a yellow but ronaldo stickes his nose in rooney pushes him,your not aloud to raise your hads so out come the red for rooney out comes a wink for ronaldo,dont forget they both play for the same team so ronaldo knows rooney has a short temper.

He was up for a yellow card until he pushed Ronaldo! It was pushing him sealed his fate! Great team mate! I would knock him out next time I saw him!!

Such a pity that it boils down to 'mind tactics' I would have thought that playing sport should be the best side wins...not the one who can bring out the worst in another player or who can take the most dives and get away with it. Linda

I'm not up with all the latest footballers in England but watched the match but I think it was an unnecessary sending off.... and would say the same if it had been the other way round.... Renaldo should have left it to the Ref who IMO was going to dish out a yellow card but Renaldo butted in and caused the sending off. There were a lot of Oscars won today and mostly they were Portuguese.... so they won all the honours..... mmmm Good thread .... good debate..... nice to see!! Jacquie xxxx

Yes, exactly what I had predicted - Rooney being sent off. When I watched Portugal playing the Netherlands I said I hope Rooney doesn't play for England against Portugal as he will be sent off. He is hot headed at the best of times. Yes, he let his team mates down badly. For the rest I think England played quite well with only 10 men, (with David Beckham and Michael Owen being non active).

Ronaldo is a cheat we all know that , he conned the Ref and he also conned Man Utd by saying he wants to play at Real Madrid instead of Old Trafford now , so no change there then. Rooney is a good and overpaid player , but did not deserve a red card for the tackle . Owen Hargreaves played his arse off and was man of the match for me . Thought the ref was not up to the standard expected We lost but well done the lads
