Now, there are a number of factors that may or may not be causing the problem so we'll tackle the easiest first. I will type instructions here but if at any stage you don't understand - PLEASE SAY. Don't click on anything unless I ask you to. In other words follow the instructions verbatim and we shouldn't go wrong. Sitting comfortably? |

ok I'm going to use a fairly standard protocol for describing how to do things. In other words: start>Control Panel means click on start and then Control Panel think of the > as an arrow pointing you onwards all the time. Another example: start>All Programs>Accessories would mean click on start then on All Programs then on Accessories ok so far? |

the only alternative to doing it this way is for you to allow me remote control of your computer so that I can do it via my broadband connection but I wouldn't advise doing that - you don' know me and I would be able to access all sorts of information on your computer so if you arehappy with following instructions we'll continue |

Could others please hang fire until we have tried this so that the water doesn't become muddied - I really appreciate others' advice but it may be counterproductive if we are trying more than one solution at once and can lead to further problems. In my opinion this is a problem with the Master File Table on the slave drive rather than a virus or spyware. Just received your PM Strump and will answer now. Thanks everyone for any help and patience. |
