We use Imperial Leather Mild in the shower, and liquid soap (usually Carex) for all handwashing. It is much more hygienic than leaving a manky skanky bar of soap on the sink. Liz

Soap? What is that? Many years ago at a makeup demo we were advised not to use soap as it removes the natural oils from the skin. A few yrs ago the doc advised my OH to stop using it for the same reason. I only use it on dirty hands, or if I get paint or grease or whatever anywhere and water and a slight rub wont remove it. Havent noticed people holding their noses when I am around! I also dont like the strong smells of most of the modern soaps, likewise washing powders etc. I dash down those aisles in the supermarket if I cannot avoid them.

Dove soap if it's a bar soap I'm using.........but tend to use liquid soap in the bathrooms and kitchen, more than likely just a shop's own brand anitbac. But I love the smell of coal tar soap and pears soap............reminds me of when I was wee.............also loved the smell of Vosene shampoo.........mmmmmmmm!!!!! My hubby laughs at me for spending ages down the cleaning aisle in the supermarket.................I'm quite fussy over my cleaning in the house and have to have the house smelling clean..........we have a dog and he's very clean but I hate going into a house where you can smell animals and panic at the thought of mine smelling of the dog.............the car does smell but that's coz I take dog to the beach and it's hard trying to get the smell of wet dog out of the car........people say they can't smell it but I can and I hate it. Husband uses Imperial Leather but as a vegetarian I will not use soap with animal fat so use veg.oil based soap. We go to India every winter and I buy my supply from there. Fav. two are Mysore sandlewood and an ayurvedic soap called Medimix wich is wonderful. My daughter insists that I bring her Medimix as a present when we return. I had forgotten about Vosene!! Loved the smell. Jeanie A.

scent free liquid soap due to skin problems. Son can't use soap at all as his skin splits and bleeds with any soap or detergent and has to use aqueous cream instead. Angela

Alek Report 24 Jul 2006 14:03

we have anti bacterial liquid soap in the kitchen and any make' I fancy trying' in the bathroom. We only use Simple soap in the shower as we have a water softener and most other bar soaps create too much lather. Rosi, I remember Shield. It had a marbled effect and apparently claimed to have an in built deodorant.

Hi Jeanie, I was interested to see about soap made from vegetable oil rather than animal fats, had never really stopped to think about that before Quite a variety of soaps there.I must admit I mainly use the dreaded liquid soap, and I am sure it works out more expensive in the long run Dee ;-))

Yvette

Yvette Report 24 Jul 2006 21:34

Camay or Imperal leather soap in the bathroom...liquid soap is too much of a temptation for little fingers otherwise, lol However i do use liquid soap in the kitchen, as it's easier to operate when you have sticky fingers. Wrights Coal Tar soap.....crikey the memories....my grandmother wouldn't use anything else!, she thought it was the cure of all ills lol Yvette
