You make each other laugh. You can talk to each other about anything. Just as importantly, you can not talk, and feel completely at ease and comfortable with the company and the silence. You can both see yourself growing old and grey with the other, and feel happy in that knowledge. Idealistic maybe, but l wouldn't settle for anything less. |

Oh McAnne! My eldest daughter (30) is also fed up with not having a boyfriend and I've talked to her about it many times. Hi Malc, My son (24) tells me that girls these days don't seem to be looking for 'decent' guys. I'm sure this can't be true, and that you'll both meet someone eventually who will make all this waiting seem all worth while. Main thing is to get out into lots of different company. I think what McShane says is so true and it goes for both men and women. Good luck. Margaret |

Anne, yes take a paper bag.... to put your insecurity in!!... you are a lovely lady, caring kind, and a catch to any decent bloke... and believe me... there are still plenty of them out there.. single too!! now, chin up.. get out there into the big wide world.. to look great you have to feel great... and, when you least expect it... that knight in shining armour ( or even pushing a shopping trolley) will sweep you off your feet... and the past few months will just seem a bad dream!!# you go girl!! |

Glad you liked the new name suggestion - I've only just come back on the site and seen it :-) Mags is absolutely right about the confidence thing - it doesn't matter what you look like or how old you are (and I know that you are neither ugly nor old) if you have confidence in yourself then it will radiate and be noticed. I had a friend once who wasn't anything particularly special to look at - she wasn't ugly, but she wasn't drop dead gorgeous either - but she had sex appeal and the guys used to drop at her feet! She was confident about the way she looked and carried herself in a confident and assertive manner and the blokes loved it? I hated it though because I was the shy wallflower stood in her shadow all the time. lol Be positive and confident and people will notice. Kaye x |

Hello McShane, My daughter said she'd been talking to an older (male) friend of the family's about being fed up not having a boyfriend and he suggested that she could be putting lads off because she appears to be quite confident. I don't think she looks over confident, but she does often appear to be cool, calm and collected, or mature for her years. Maybe that does frighten the lads off. I've always imagined her settling down with someone a bit older than herself in which case, she may have to wait a bit longer because some of the lads over here are only finishing their higher education at 30. Since she's interested in having a family, she only hopes she hasn't got too much longer to wait. Delicate subject really. Margaret |
