Hi Sarah I suspect that but for a small minority, most of us get ignored some of the time. Some of us feel ignored most of the time! As was stated earlier, you need to be thick-skinned and do what I do - waffle on regardless! Bev x

Dee the Bibliomaniac Report 15 Aug 2006 11:04

Hi Sarah This may not be relevant, but is an observation Some of the threads that have a lot of replies, when looked at closely, have replies from just a handful of people, and are almost like private conversations Others that have far fewer replies have been contributed to by more people, and with less interaction between them (Hope that makes some sense) Dee ;-))))

Just passing and wanted to say hello, but with my thread killing abilities you may get no more responses............ Barbara..xx

Rachel

Rachel Report 15 Aug 2006 10:57

If I ask a question, say in the day and don't get a response, then I nudge the thread (just add reply writing 'nudge') in the evening and I often do get a response then. Different members are around different times, by doing this you will find someone who knows the answer! Your friend shouldn't be worried about not getting a reply, most people do. As they say 'no harm in asking'!!

East Point Report 15 Aug 2006 09:26

Sarah - the same happens to me occasionally, but then other times I get loads of replies - suppose it's all to do with what your thread is about. I used to worry, but not any more. I'm sure it's nothing personal. Just keep putting up threads and folk will get to know you. Stella

Sarah, it took me ages to post on the Gen board as I felt like the new girl at school where everyone else already had friends. In the end I just went for it and over the past 18 months I've made lots of friends here on and off the boards. Quite a few of my threads get very few replies and sometimes I'm left feeling very deflated. Other threads get a lot of responses which is always comforting and often very encouraging and supportive and I suppose it's as others have said, depends on the topic. Having said that I must say that I do tend to respond more to peeps who I've actually met or have a connection with, only because I feel more comfortable with that. Keep posting! Daisy

AnninGlos Report 15 Aug 2006 08:56

good morning Sarah, I think part of the problem is that, unlike other sites, we don't know when people read our threads without posting. We nearly all have the same problem with not many people responding to some of our threads (in fact there was a 'thread killers thread' on here just recently saying just that), there are some people who, by virtue of their personalities, seem to get lots of answers every time but that is like life, there will always be the more extrovert members of any society who collect lots of people round them. just keep putting up threads if you (or your MSN friend) think of anything and people will read them if not reply. And we are all your friends on here, no need to be lonely. ((((hugs)))) Ann Glos

I often post a thread and it doesn't get answered and often kill other peoples theads too. LOL. I have been here about 2 year now. I don't take it personally guess I must be a bit boring at times. Don't worry think it happens to all of us at times. Germaine x

JackyJ1593 Report 15 Aug 2006 07:58

Sarah, I have just been through all my threads and deleted them. Many had very few or even no replies. I am not a new member as I joined GR in the first few days. It is just as others have said - the title doesn't grab them, it isn't a topic they want to join in with, they may not have been around at the time your thread was on the first few pages. Or it could be that I am becoming paranoid about posting boring threads!! Jacky :-)

Hi Sarah....I dont think people car'nt be bothered i think they just agree with what you have posted and your opinion, or they have thought others have replied for them, and accept it as that, Lil

Sarah No, we can't ignore you cos you'll think we are ignoring you....LOL If its any comfort to you, I do remember your name as a poster on the boards occasionally, which is a bit of a miracle in itself as I can hardly remember my own name most days. OC
