Half the unrest on this board would never be , if we could see faces. Seeing if what we said brought a smile or a frown, a laugh or a tear. Joy or hurt. Comfort or pain. Bitterness or forgivness. XX |

Hi Yes people do tend to take thinks personal not me I must add. Unless someone refers to me by name even then depending on the opinion/comment I don’t take it to personal words on a screen, Different people express themselves differently we are all individuals, some feel its aimed at them personally which on most occasions its not, its someone having there opinion, we all come from different walks of life and have different opinions. Have a nice day Lil |

The song Valerie was sung by Steve Winwood, late 80s early 90s I think - there was a recent dance remix (as there always is), but the original version is much better (as they usually are). |

I stop and think before I hit send - what if my mum or gran could see this? Would they approve? If the answer's No then I don't send. Even then I go back and look and will change it if I'm not happy. I sometimes delete but not if there's been an answer as that leaves the thread looking stupid. I'm usually very easy-going and don't get upset BUT I'm diabetic and do have bad days - these are the days when I could say something without thinking! But I'll do that face to face as well - in fact, I'm more inclined to do it face to face! On here I can amend my words - can't do that speaking to someone, once it's said you have to live with the consequences. Damage limitation! |

There have certainly been some very valid points made about the importance of non verbal communication ie facial expressions and body language - which cannot be seen from behind a computer screen. I agree with Lil in that I certainly would not take anything personally unless it was directed at me by name. Carry on posting Val - if you offend me I'll let you know (or send the boys aound ) lol Best wishes Kris |

I feel that same way Valerie. If i'm in a 'daft, happy mood',on here sometimes, I might put words that sound cheeky( but not meant to be nasty) and fear, that, when I don't get a reply that I've offended the other person.Although I feel some members could say anything to each other, think they must actually be friends. When among my family and friends and I say the same silly things we always laugh together, knowing it's not meant to cause trouble. I like to come on Gen. board and have a laugh, learn life(we're never too old for something new!) and just generally 'mix' with everyone.Even to just sit and read and not add to it. We can all, sometimes, take things personally and has been said depends on your mood!! Have a smashing day Valerie Mau ((XX)) :O) BTW 'Valerie' is by The Vutons x |

In the past Collette texted me a question and I sent back 'Yes'. When she got home she started going off on one about me texting sarcastically! |

Hi Valerie I didn't see the thread in question, but there have been so many 'problem' threads on here that sometimes people missread an innocent one and react. I am sure you meant well, and please don't take it to heart that someone missunderstood, just try and forget and enjoy the boards, i am sure things will clear up as a result. Have a nice day :-) Yvette |

Hi Val On your thread in question you did say I quote from your thread 'i guess only the honest and sincere ones will add to this thread.' (and im afraid that quote couldn't be misinterpreted) I for one diddnt add to your thread on principle (regardless of my thoughts on your thread subject) as by saying that, intentional or not, you was saying everyone who diddnt add to your thread were dishonest and insincere ! Making people feel they were forced to add or be eyed with distrust or suspicion for not doing so. It was bound to upset those who either couldn't add, or diddnt want to add to the thread Not wanting to add to a thread doesnt make a person a bad 'un. Elaine x |

No offence was meant by that comment. What i was trying to say, is that people who agreed with me that life is too short,so let's not fight, i guess they will add to the thread, people that don't agree may not. It was not meant at those who dont have time to reply or would rather not. So don't take it personally. Like i said before and i will say again, my thread was for good intentions not bad, common sense would tell you that. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Valerie I know you diddnt mean offence by it But Im saying it how it is, and how it appeared, not just to me but to others as well Others took offence and I understand why they did, and I agree with them People dont like to be insinuated that if they dont add to a thread, they are dishonest and insincere And im not taking anything personally, just because ive added my opinion to this thread Elaine x. |

Valerie, Without wanting to add fuel to the fire so to speak, I have to admit I read your message the same way as Elaine did. While I'm happy to accept that you didn't mean it to sound the way it did, perhaps you could acknowledge that it DID sound bad, even if you didn't mean it - then we can all just forget about it ? We've ALL had things misinterpretted in the past - but it's not worth dwelling on it too long. Paul |
