Had to have a cone biopsy in 1980 as dodgy smears, frequent checks for some time afterwards then I got pregnant as soon as I tried, when I hadn't even tho tried for seven years after Zoe died. No probs since and only smears every 3 years now. I am sure you will soon be sorted out and it won't be so bad, just try to be as relaxed as possible beforehand and positive all through. Liz |

Anne....hysteroscopy.......it's where they go further 'in' to have a better look....had this done on Weds just past and then they took samples from me..........not going to lie it's (sweary word) sore but I'm a woose with pain so it may not have been that bad.........think major monthly cramp x10!!!! You get a groovy chair to sit in....kinda like a dentist chair with no obvious seat part!!!! p.s......leave your dignity at the door!!!! RDA.x. |

Hiya Babe, I've been several times for colposcopy. And being the girl that starts screeching with pain as soon as I get into the doctors for a smear - I can say this is no more painful. When I first got a call back I totally panicked - and then made myself worse by reading websites that were very inclear on the different stages of everything to do with the smear test progression. My best advice is DO NOT PANIC. AT this stage you're most likely been recalled as theres some cell growth in your smear test that they don't expect and they want an expert to have a closer look at whats going on. The most usual cause for this is a thing called HPV (human papilloma virus) which in the early stages they can treat (i've had the treatment - but I won't darken your door with THAT experience unless you're really wanting to know) If you want to mail/PM me I can can go through it all with you and let you know what to expect and the various stages you MAY go onto if they think it's neceassary. Zoe p.s. HUGS. when I got my recall (by phone) I burst into tears in the middle of the office - so at least you've been saved that embarrassment. |

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH - I forgot this bit *guys - LOOK AWAY NOW**** when they take a closer look the consultant goes 'up there' with a video camera - and they offer you a choice of watching the telly seeing what they see do NOT watch it - it's the worst choice I ever made and I had them whizzing the telly away in seconds |

Hi Ladies As I haven't been able to get at this thread - thought I would just update you on things. Had it done on 19/09 - and just as Zoe said - watched the whole show on the video screen, more out curiosity than anything - but HEY I have been on TV now lolol Anyway - had to have a biopsy taken (nasty local anesthetic stung a bit) ........... currently still awaiting results !! |
