The dog track has just closed down up here in Hull Baz and Mum is thinking of getting a greyhound. They seem like really nice dogs

10 or so years ago I would have pointed you in their direction. I am an ex owner used to race Slough Peterboro Henlow etc etc my Jimbob was 12yrs when I lost him. Patch had to go to the trust as did a few others (in laws not mine)

They're lovely Jeanette. They make lovely pets, are no trouble, do NOT need loads of exercise, come in all colours lol. Mine is a Brindle, and he's a gentleman.

I'll let Mum know what you've said Baz. The only thing she's worried about is that she goes on holiday quite alot. But I've said I would look after him/her while she's away. Can't wait to se the look on my cat's face! LOL

Jeanette Greyhounds are lovely as pets they are soft and affectionate. They are de-trained as ex racers I have seen them cuddling 'cats' they don't need any more exercise than any other dog would and ........I am sorry Crispy.......your call..........slinks back to the corner

Essex Baz Report 25 Nov 2006 20:17

Down here Jeanette, holidays are no problem, the Grey will be taken back into kennels for the duration of your holidays,,,,,and,,,,if the dog dosen't suit, you can give him back to the Trust

Jacqui.......I'm not worried about how the dog will behave towards the cat. It's how the cat will take to the dog. He's a big tom and he rules the world......well the few back gardens round here anyway! LOL He's not even our cat as my OH keeps reminding me! His real house is five doors away, but he likes it here best

Essex Baz Report 25 Nov 2006 20:26

Do you know ladies, the Trust has re-homed 86 Greyhounds since about May of this year. That's 86 lives saved.

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 25 Nov 2006 20:26

LOL, that's what I like to hear LOL

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 25 Nov 2006 20:38

But that is not enough 86 since May and how many lost? If we have convinced you Jeanette I am so pleased my oldie was never re-trained I had him as a racing pup but he never gave me grief. steps off soap box before she gets on it lol

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 25 Nov 2006 20:41

It's very difficult Jacqui, and frustrating. When we go to the shows etc, I always try to take my dogs so people can see first hand what they are like. But trying to convince them is another thing

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 25 Nov 2006 20:45

I know and people just don't understand greyhounds do a thread for them ?????

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 25 Nov 2006 21:00

I doubt very much whether the thread would survive for more than a few minutes Jacqui

UzziAndHerDogs

UzziAndHerDogs Report 25 Nov 2006 21:04

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 25 Nov 2006 21:10
