The opinion voiced by Big Jules is called 'pathological disbelief'. He is of the ilk capable of saying 'Even if it was true, I wouldn't believe it'. It's almost like a religious creed where you have to conform on pain of being consigned to the flames of hell (a medieval myth). With some scientist, to admit to the paranormal would be an admission of error - which is very difficult for scientists and politicians. However, with the advent of quantum mechanics and ongoing research, they are already practicing their U-turns. The paranormal is not hard to prove, it is just hard to get it accepted in Western culture. However, slowly but surely physicists are getting there; there are a lot of strange things being discovered in the cosmos. len

many years ago, on a sunday morning, there was a teach yourself yoga series on television, and i would lay on the bed, and practice the breathing and meditation techniques, when suddenly i found myself looking down on my body laying on the bed, it really shook me up, and somehow i came out of it, turned off the television, and never watched the programme again. bryan.

Well, I have tried the techniques recommended on this site. Cracking way to get to sleep, zonking out almost instantly, but otherwise, no success. Perhaps I am not suitably gifted. Rob

Sooner or later it will be generally accepted in the scientific world that consciousness, although associated with the brain (not necessarily only the.human brain), is not a brain function and can exist independently, It may leave the body and return. Published studies from Rinjstate Hospital in Holland and Freiberg University in germanyindicate that consciousness is able to operate independently of the body. Other studies from all over the world support the hypothesis The extent and power of the mind , (another word for consciousness - as is soul or spirit). These findings have been published in the British Psychological Journal and the Lancet. A sceptic is a person who has never had personal experience of an unembodied mind and who does not wish to do so as it means revising a life's philosophy. Or it can be a person unendowed with lateral thinking ability. There is no reason why, under the laws of physics, consciousness should nor separately exist. If you would like a great deal of detail, look up Tracy Blackburn's thread 'Life after death - How many believe'. Len

My dad could do it, project his astral and go to other places. Sometimes he said he could just project into the upper corner of the room and see himself. He used to say it wasn't scarey at all, came second nature to him; but he was also a healer. Sylvx

Hazel. Try not to jerk yourself out of it , try to relax into it . Its quite difficult at 1st because you dont really know whats happening but eventually you will recognise the noise in your ears and the feelings that come with it and each time you will get further . Learn to embrace the feelings and not fight them off . Connie

I spoke to my sister regarding this thread as she too can astral project, she discribed the same feelings as i get : Has anybody else experienced this , wether or not you know what it is ? You are lay on your back and very , very relaxed and feel as though your just about to nod off , when you get a feeling of turning / spinning in /on your bed . Then you feel something draw out of your stomach / chest . ( it isnt something detaching from you , its you detaching from your body ) ( if that makes sense ). Like i said on previous thread - it differs slightly amongst different people . We can all do it , those of us who arn't totally aware of doing it are travelling whilst asleep . Just like the people who say they dont dream - We all do . If anybody is interested in doing it , its like anything else , it takes practise and the first thing is to learn how to completely relax and empty your mind of all thoughts . One technique whilst relaxing is to picture a white glow in your tummy and feel the heat coming from that glow , imagine the glow slowly expanding through your stomach filling all your tummy then moving through and up the trunk of your body , gradually fill all your body with the glow , right through to the end of your fingers and toes and eminating about 2 inches from your body ( so you look like the kid who had ready brek ) lol. This relaxation technique also protects you as nothing can penetrate your glow - nothing can hurt you. good luck in trying.

Liz. Tuesday Lopsang Rampa was indeed an Englishman. He claimed that the spirit of a Lama had entered his body which is when he changed to Rampa. I don't know if he is telling the truth, however, his words and his philosophies ring a lot of bells with me and if it gets people interested in the more spiritual side of life, he has done a good job.xx

My OH can do it at will. He isn't afraid of it and has been able to do this for most of his life. I have had the odd experience but cannot do it at will. I keep trying though. You do have to be careful travelling the Astral planes! ;-)

It is something I would love to be able to do; it would be fun to come home astrally whenever I am away physically. How is it done, and what sort of protection would be required? Rob
