I know but they always accept. They know they've got a good meal ticket with me. They like what I do if I can say that without sounding cocky. They know I have plans for more. Self publishing isn't really credible. The first book has been polished up to such a high standard I couldn't hope to match. I never set out to make a living from writing, but now, with those big life choices all around me, I'm going to have to consider making some executive and important descisions. Sigh

Have you considered self publishing Daniel? May be wroth looking into. You are obliged as you say to offer it to Sutton first, but that doesn't mean they'll accept it.

Problem with going to a big company like Sutton is they have big staff costs. They have the marketing and design skills that little places just couldn't afford. They pay thier staff through book sales. Then you have the shops taking a big chunk out. The artist ;-), is pretty screwed over basically.

Didn't realise that was all you got, that's peanuts..!

Daniel Report 9 Dec 2006 13:42

Ha ha, no. I still havent been paid. (every 6 month) Sold about 800, so seeing as I get £1.60 a book, I should get £1280. Take off my £500 advance I should get £780. Just over a grand for all that hard work and effort is rubbish. I'm going to get an agent and have my next contact amended. I'm legally obliged to offer any new ideas to Sutton Publishing first. I think I'd get more and possibly be able to make a career out of it being published by a local company. They turned me down at the start but now they would definitley be interested as it's obvioulsy selling.

Nah I have no one at the moment. Just me and..anyway. I have a girly mate but she's not my type. Only go as far as the odd tispy kiss (why??? *bangs head on desk*) No worries though. Only a wee lamb. But, I'm not chasin anymore. They can come to me. I'm a nice guy I think.

Hi Dan, Despite Elaine's apparent cynicism, the boards are still predominantly NICE and that's because the majority of people on this site are nice and good people. And it would be all the better if the good folks that abandoned the boards for the 'other side' came back to inject more fun, laughs and vitality into them. I am so glad to see you here! Dee x
