Diana,You did right. My grandson on a risk register now because of his mother, and it was first reported by nieghbours seeing him filthy dirty and getting locked out of the house all day with no food. There is police protection involved as well.I just wished they had reported it before it got so bad.Annie |

I'm a foster carer so was particularly interested to read this, Has there been any response from the Emergency Duty Team of Social Services ? If not, there should have been by now. Also the police. Keep your messages, report it to the police. What she's doing to you is an offence. What social services will do in this case would depend on how the social worker who attends views it. In many cases the parents calm down, promise to be good etc, etc, soc.worker leaves then it all starts again. Press on with this. If you really think the child is at risk push for it like mad to be dealt with., There is help for supporting families in order to keep them together if that's the answer. But it needs acting on and soon by the sound of it |

Hi guys..... I know I did the right thing..... have spent most of the day on the phone to the police and sadly they aren't going to do a thing!!! Par for the course they say! But social services will now monitor the family!! The mother has said I am harrassing her...... quite amusing really and the police have said not to worry! There have been no more calls or text from her so I just hope social services do what they are paid to do and keep this child safe! |

Hi Diana You definitely did the right thing, and well done for having the courage to contact Social Services. I worked in a school that was in an area of 'social deprivation' and saw cases like this at first hand. It's heartbreaking to see how scared these little children are. Being childless doesn't mean that you have no idea how demanding they are, or how to bring them up! But in any case, a demanding child should not be abused in any way, shape or form. Love Mandy x |

Hi Diana :) Well done to you for the putting the protection of the child first.I hope that some action is taken soon. We have in our area a Child Protection Unit as part of the local police. These are officers who work alongside Social Sevices to deal with these types of incidences. They will also hopefully be there for you in the circumstances of you being threatened. It may be worth your while seeing if there is something on this line in your immediate area to. Colin :):) |

Hi Diana, just popped in again and saw this. The near same thing happened to our two in their previous life, which is why we have to be careful what we say from time to time, if they've done wrong. (For those friends on here that don't know - our two were adopted by us in 1999, at the ages of 9 and 6). Good for you for doing that though, Diana. You're a gem. :-) |

Hi Diana, You have done the right thing. Have you heard anymore from social services? There should be a duty officer who ought to be dealing with emergencies. Please give us an update, when you get a chance. Jill xx |

Diana You gave this child a special gift this christmas sweetie. You've given her hope . Verbal abuse in the home is just as harmful as actual bodily abuse, sometimes more harmful because body tissue can heal , where as hurtful words will stay with you for ever and start to mould you as a person. Head high, smile on your face because your Daddy would be so proud of you Merry Christmas Debi -x- |
