Here's my choices. Classic. Woman in White..........by Wilkie Collins. There stood a figure dressed from head to toe in white. Walter Hartrights encounter with the nameless and distressed woman in white, begins one of the greatest mystery thrillers in the English Language. A gripping tale, intracately plotted and compellingly told. Something Might Happen by Julie Myerson...... On a Monday night in October in a small seaside town in Suffolk, a woman is brutally murdered. There are no obvious suspects, she was not an obvious victim. Her grieving friend Tess thinks that Tess was not the type to have something happen to her. This is not a murder mystery. There are clues, false trails, detectives and all the paraphernalia of a who dunnit, but the oncern is with the effect of the murder on an ordinary community and specifically on Tess herself, her husband Mick and her three children. As the Police go about their investigations, Tess's world of nappies, school runs and baked beans begins to unravel. Suddenly nothing is certain, the mundane becomes charged with significance, established relationships begin to crumble and places that were safe are safe no longer... I shall leave mine at 2 this month. Maisie |

Hi Ann Sorry for delay - not on the pc much at the moment, but getting better every day thanks. Suite Francaise - Irene Nemirovsky. I suggested this one last month I think - reading it now and really enjoying it. In 1941 Irene Nemirovsky sat down to write a book that would convey the magnitude of what she was living through, not in terms of battles and politicians, but by evoking the domestic lives and personal trials of the ordinary citizens of France. She did not live to see her ambition fulfilled, or to know that, 65 years later, Suite Francaise would be published for the first time and hailed as a masterpiece. The Gypsy Madonna - Santa Montefiore. A Titian masterpiece. A sumptuous French chateau with a deadly secret. A Nazi warlord iwth a thirst for art. A vicious crowd and a sinister priest in a France of patriots and traitors. A small boy and his French mother. A raffish American with a plaintive voice and an enchanted guitar, who breezes into a Bordeaux village, full of mysteries and magic and changes their lives forever. No classic this month but anything by Jane Austen would usually be my choice. Daisy |

I am getting a little concerned that neither Kaz or Tina have replied to my PMs. Neither have I seen them around. I have to give it to tomorrow evening now as I said I would, annoying because all the other suggestions are here and we could have voted. Ann Glos |

Hi, crumbs didn't realise it was time to add already. For my choice of classic i would like ; Three Men in a Boat To Say Nothing of the Dog Author: Jerome K. Jerome This comic novel describes the boating expedition on the Thames of three friends and their dog, Montmerency. The difficulties and vicissitudes of these innocents abroad are magnified to epic proportions, and give the book an air of fresh innocence. You stole my heart away . Author Joan Jonker. Another adventure of Molly Bennet and Nellie Macdonough and their extended families. Leaving the saints . Author Martha Beck. Leaving the saints is an unforgettable memoir about one woman's lifetime struggle to overcome a dark secert buried in her childhood. Tina |
