Hi Baz I must admit, I probably don't use my Mac to it's full advantage although I use it all the time. I'm hoping to play around with it a lot more once I've finished my family tree lol. I'm wanting to finish my family tree (get it to a place where I'm happy with it) over the next couple of months and also finish my family tree website, Do you have i life? I find that iweb is fantastic. It's so easy to create a great looking website if you're a novice. I also love iphoto and itunes. The best thing that I've found about the macs is the search facility spotlight. It's absolutely fantastic. I hate having to search for anything on my pc at work. It takes so long in comparison. Oh no, I must stop. I'm raving about my mac in the same way I rave about my family tree lol x Lesley

Hi MM - I suppose a GR with all these trees was bound to have more than it's fair share of Robins and Maid Marions lol x lesley

Lol Baz, I also rave about cats in the same way! I don't mean to have a 'go' at pcs but I have to agree with you, I do find them a bit prehistoric. When i turn on my Mac, everything just looks good. It does everything that I want and more than I ever imagined. The only thing it doesn't have is family tree maker, I have to have virtual pc running on my Mac so I can run it. If I was starting my tree from scratch I would have probably used a mac program. However, I believe the new Macs with the intel chips can run windows based programs. Unfortunately (or perhaps that is fortunately) I don't intend to replace my Mac for a long time yet. x lesley

I do have a few bad vibes about the new Intel Core Duo 2 Lesley. If we can run Windows as well, does that mean we can pick up all the Windows Virus's as well ?

That's what I was worried about Baz. The best thing about a Mac is not worrying at all about catching a virus. I know this sounds daft but if you could catch a virus with the duo, do you think it would only infect the windows part of it?

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 4 Mar 2007 22:49

I think that's something I don't want to try out Lesley, how about you MM ?

I quickly read an article saying that the windows part is still subject to virus'. The best thing to do then is not to put windows on it and keep it as Mac only.

I have OS X Tiger on mine at the moment, but isn't Panther the next generation platform ? Sorry, just realised what I've written. I meant LEOPARD lol

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 4 Mar 2007 22:51

I think I may just get the upgrade to Panther when it's ready Lesley.

Hi Baz Think we've met on another site. Safari ----- have you run first aid to check disk permission. If you haven't used first aid before it's simple and quick. Jan (deletejb)
