i know it's going be hard for them,,, theres a 50% chance they will never see their little girl again, that little girl must feel so scared and not know what is happening to her or where her mummy and daddy are. the monster who has got her could be doing the most sickening things to her it's hard to think about. i have a daughter same age as her and i dont know what i would do if that happened....BUT..... would i ever leave her alone even for ten mintues,,,,she could be alseep then wake up and i'm not there and do anything,,,,, my heart goes out to this child's family but they should never have left her with to young children....sorry

I have to agree with you Hayley. I am staggered at their decision to leave such young children alone out of earshot, especially as they are clearly well educated people and one would imagine they should know better. It's a miracle they didn't lose all three. It's the child I feel the most sorry for in this I am afraid. I have sympathy for the plight of the parents of course but my heart aches for this child and I pray she comes back unharmed soon. xx

At last someone has actually come out and said this...I agree with you Hayley. I cannot imagine how two intelligent people could leave three (presumably) much wanted IVF children alone in an apartment in a foreign country. I don't think anyone could have predicted what happened, but even so, you just don't do that! Sheila (mother of 2)

david i know it's a terrible thing to say, no parent whould ever want this to happen to their child or anyone else's but why leave them on their own, why not put them in a pushchair and take them with them...

I have taken all three of my children abroad on holiday many times and have never left them alone. Last year me and my husband ate seperately because our young daughter needed to sleep taking turns in the room with her! It makes me feel physically sick thinking of leaving any of them alone and i dont know of any parents that would do the same - especially abroad!

i watched them on tv last nite and my heart goes out to them and i hope she returns safe,, they havent said why they left them or why they didn't use the babysitting service...i no one thing they won't ever (well i hope) leave them again..

Hi Hayley, I think many of us at this time cannot get this little girl out of our minds and we all feel ill at the thought of what may have happened, I have had 2 little blonde sweetheart girls myself and I think we all imagine it being our own, I would have taken the push chair to the table and eaten with my children at that age, only when they were older would I have left them in the room.We didnt have the money to afford holidays abroad but my little ones were always close by, God help them to find her and catch the scum that took her, Caz xxx

thank you for agreeing with me...David sent 'so your saying it's their fault'...me and most parents would never leave their children alone just so we could go eat.

no we wouldnt hayley, if they needed' quality time', why not take a babysitter with them, friends of mine have done this and there not in highly paid jobs, they feel you cant put a price on your childs well being. they have paid for the holiday and as a wage with time of too .

Here we go. No-ones saying its the parents fault, they didnt know it would happen, BUT being professionals, one would have thought they'd be more responsible than to let a tiny girl babysit her 2 yr old siblings. If they were unemployed and from a council estate, I doubt the media would be as fair on them. (And nor would social services). Small children cannot care for themselves, they need adults to do it for them.

Hi girls I added to a thread this morning saying exactly what has been said here. I cannot begin to understand how these poor parents must feel. But, no-one with young children would dream of leaving them alone at home let alone in a foreign country. Lin x

Hi, Like you all, I can't stop thinking about this poor little girl and her parents. I keep watching the news hoping to hear that they found her. I'm so upset about it - it's every parents nightmare. Sadly, my own thoughts are that I don't think they will find her - hope I am wrong though. From reading the news reports, they reported that someone spotted a man and a woman with a little girl, at about 6am the morning after she was abducted. They were heading towards the railway station or Marina. My thoughts are that they took her out the Country straight away, before the police even had time to block the ports, and railways etc. I'm also wondering if maybe its a childless couple who were unable to have children of their own, who have took her. If thats the case, then don't think they will harm her in any way. But Maddy will still be a frightened little girl wondering why she can't see her Mammy, Daddy and siblings anymore and wondering what is happening. We will all just have to continue praying that she will be returned safely. Jan

we all hope she returns... i heard the ploice weren't doing enough and last nite on the news i watched them....insted of searching cars leaving the area they were standing by the road talking, a blacked out van went past and they didn't stop it....

Hayley,The police are doing everything they can, I get so angry that the press are giving the Portuguese Police a bad name. This is something Alien to them, Its a country where they dont get Child abusers or child sex offenders and when they do there usually British!!

Roxanne - I agree. I wish the media would just clear off and let everyone do their jobs, and stop all the speculation and innuendo.

Roxanne. Wasn't there a massive case in Portugal a few years back where children from a childrens home were horribly abused by paedophiles? I think paedophilia is a worldwide problem - I don't believe there is any country in the world that can claim it doesn't have child abusers living amongst them.xx

Muffy,My point was that they dont have the huge problems the U.K has! that is a fact. British Police deal with cases like this often, the Portuguese/ Spanish police dont.

why is it normally british people that are the monsters... a women and her husband last year went to spain and the husband stayed outside a shop while the wife went in,,a while later the husband went into the shop to look for his wife....she wasnt there, he searched the shop and asked the spainish shop workers where she was they said she hadn't been in the shop.he knew she had so he got the ploice who searched the shop and behide a clothes rail full of clothes there was a door inside there was the woman tidied up.
