Citrus scattered around should work or try spraying a diluted (by not much) vinegar around your borders. It did work for me for awhile but not long enough.

Not sure if this has been posted.

Cocoa shells, you can get them online. They smell like choccy, they do your garden good and cats HATE them.

I've used them before and it worked so well......no cat poo and no cats returned as they found some poor neighbours garden to poo on

I think you have to keep dogs away from them though

Little worse than a hand full of cat poo when you are weeding the borders. I wish they wouldn't bury it.

Horrible creatures.

Tried most and they didn't work.

Have 2 cats that go out and won't come in other than to use the litter tray and be fed.

One had kittens 5 weeks ago. The father some times pops in for a look !!

Get one of those powerful Water Pistols (Keep it full and handy) it does the trick during the day,but most problems occur at night when people put them out. Mine stays in and uses a Litter tray.**M**.

As someone has mentioned previously, cats will bury their poo.

Ours uses our garden and others.

But we do have foxes, who do not go in our garden, but you often see their poo on the street.

So unless you actually catch the cat in action, I would say it was foxes....

I though the plant to deter cats was catnip, also called catmint , but having googled it, apparently cats love it! Must tell my son, he has planted it to try to keep his cats out of his vegetable patch.

You could try planting garlic - wild garlic does have quite attractive flowers so wouldn't look too out of place at the front of the house - it does smell a bit though. Our dogs come back from the woods stinking of it but as we have so much growing wild around here, we don't really notice it any more.

As a dog owner, I get quite angry about cats - we have to clean up after our dogs and can be fined if we don't and if we let our dogs roam the way cats do, we would soon be in trouble. Maybe we need laws about controlling cats. All cats to be allowed out only on a lead - it would make walking our dogs so much more pleasurable if they weren't continually being taunted by cats.

Here is a review of anti cat tactics:
http://winkypedia.net/2011/03/11/how-to-stop-cats-from-fouling-in-your-garden/

The one that works is netting. I have two cats and do not want them ( or OP's) mucking up the veg plot etc. My grandfather was using chick wire back in the 1920s...

The trouble with noise systems is that they MUST NOT be set at an audio range which bothers babies and young people including the house next door etc. Directed sound systems which comply with this tend not to bother cats overmuch.

Now you know why so many people have cats, if you can't beat them .....

3 Ways to Make Homemade Cat Repellent - wikiHow
www.wikihow.com › ... › Pets and Animals › Cats › Feline Health
Spray the homemade cat repellent spray wherever you want to repel cats. ... Never use moth balls to repel any unwanted animals, as moth balls are highly toxic ...

Have a look at this site...not tried but worth a try!

I put Olbas oil on my wheelie bins to stop the cats spraying near them. Works a treat.

Water does not work if you have a cat like mine she lays in the shallow edge of the pond like a tiger cooling off :-D :-D :-D. Likes to get in the sink too if she gets the chance

Jeyes Fluid should never be used near cats,if licked off their paws it can cause the most horrific death by burning their insides, tell you on the tins**** Harmful to Cats.*****

Jeyes can be used round the garden/bins etc watered down,,,,,,, when dry doesnt present a problem.

cats dont like things that flicker or shiney...

A neighbour of mine sprayed them with a hosepipe. The hardest bit was managing to wet them before they ran off, but once he got them they never came back.

A work colleague scooped it up, called round at the cat's owner and tipped it on their new hall carpet, saying I believe this is yours, you might as well have it back. That did the trick too.

http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/the-potting-shed/update-on-jeyes-fluid-and-cat-probs/79172.html

Have a read of the above questions and answers, info about Jeyes fluid there, I think it is toxic to pets but there are ways of using it to deter the cats.

It is unpleasant, luckily the cats who come into the garden to steal the birdfood don't seem to leave anything here, but they do have a lovely big field on the other side of the hedge so hopefully use that.

Hedgehog isn't so good tho, leaves little mounds on the grass, maybe I am feeding him/them too well.

Lesley - you need a cat :-D

Have to admit, my cats poo in MY garden. How do I know?
I have a raised area full of builder's rubble, that I covered with weed suppressant and bark.
I've seen them doing it in the bark!!
My cats are regularly squirted with nasty chemicals so they don't have worms. The poo dries in the bark to a dust, and I re-cover with fresh bark every year.
