I have just put away my trusted Kenwood Chef it has never let me down in the years I have had it . The fuse is still the same (I know that because it is a sealed plug) and my goodness it has been worked very hard , well brought up a family of 6 and baked every day when they were growing up and even now it is used at least 2/3 times a week , so how old is it? 40 years this month and bought for about £74 OH bought it for me I think as a sweetner as we had just been told we were being moved from Scot. to Eng, |

I have just passed on my 40 year old Kenwood Chef to my daughter because I don't use it very often these days. The other day I went for a visit and found daughter and grandchildren mixing a cake in the Chef just as I did with my children when they were little. It made me feel very sentimental :-) |

I too have a Kenwood Chef - tried to work out how old it is - about 45-46 yrs. Only had it repaired once - new brushes - it took a hammering I used to make my own petal paste and sugar paste (in the days when one could not buy it) and also made and designed every type of cake from christening to wedding. |

I had a blender that went on the top of the Chef and it still works as well as the new ones. |

My food processor is nothing like as old as that, only about 14/15 years old but I would just like to say how good Kenwood are about repairs. |

Now I think that might say something everyone so far has only mentioned Kenwood. I might say my Mum's one was 30yrs old when she got rid of it in 1981 wish I had kept it bet it would still be going now, the funny thing is my family turn their noses up at such a large object they all seem to go for a smaller food processor I've nothing against them but wouldn't swap for anything. And good on Kenwood for the repairs I dropped my liquidiser a few years ago alas I couldn't get one but they did try:-D |

My Kenwood Chef is also still going strong after at least 45 years. I broke the mincer attachment - my own fault - but the liquidiser that goes on top is still in constant use. |

Pensioned off my Chef when it was about 40 - probably just needed grease on the bearings but the chef wanted something a little smaller to fit our midget kitchen. Still in use, though, is a set of Prestige kitchen tools (egg and fish slices, palette knife, etc) with wooden handles - 44 years old and used regularly and the wood is still brown, no greying. |

I can never remember a time when the ladle I washed yesterday was not here. One of the rivets has finally give way on it and a leg fell off the colander that has always been in the kitchen recently too. |

It's wonderful to see how good workmanship has lasted and how many of us have our old things instead of buying new just for the sake of it (not like the young ones today) , wonder if todays implements will last as long, my g/mothers Hoover had a tiny little hoover?? and she had it for at least 50 yrs I of course threw it out when I got it as it was too small - how I wish I had it now it was so light bet it would still be going too - don't know how many vacuums I have had in the last 10 years at least 6 . Oh I still have the bread knife my Mum got as a wedding present in 1934 as good as new except Dad left it too near the gas hob and burnt a bit out of the old yellow handle but I would not be without it, keep asking kids who wants me to leave it to them in my will but they look at me as I'm daft :-0 |
