There's a cloud in the sky with my name on just somewhere left of the sun and when I die I think that I will ride on it and have some fun.
I will steer over parched little gardens belonging to the poor and alone and let down the showers to grow them pretty flowers and make shining diamonds of grey stone.
I will guide my little cloud sometimes across the sun you'll see this cloud of mine with edges shining until those who are on the brink, look heavenward and think 'Surely every cloud must have a silver lining?'
I could travel anywhere on my little cloud up there as far as the winds could ever blow For children full of wonder, I could rip the cloud asunder and cover a grey world with magic snow.
On days when no sun shines on my gloomy little cloud I'll reflect the mood of all who sorrow find but on days that should be gay I'll lead other clouds away to float just out of sight and out of mind

The Overseasers
I wandered lonely o'er the threads it was the dead of night All the members in their beds And then I got a fright
Someone added to a thread And then there was another Chatting away on the boards About one thing and another
They didn't see me as I watched Them getting on just fine More people added one by one not heeding the lateness of time
I changed boards to see what Was going on on there but there they were, more members With one or two in the chair
Sheesh I thought, what is this All these people in the night Then I remembered 'twas the over seasers Chatting with friends and nerry a fight
They didn't see me but I saw them they all seemed so nice Maybe the next time I'm up late I will join them once or twice.

Who needs a morning paper delivered to their door? When you can log on to GR & get the news & more Who has their nails painted a delicate shade of pink? Got trouble with the water not going down the sink Just who they will elect to be the next aged pope Of fairness from politicians we should give up hope Well used chatting threads there are a few We think of threads with subjects new Threads whose whole reason is to us amuse Answered by those who the author just abuse But when you are feeling oh so very blue Log onto GR chat is what you should do For when a fellow member is in trouble Many are there to help, at the double. <3

I wander lonely as anything Jumping from thread to thread But why does anything interesting Happen while I am in bed?
In the day we have the boring threads Or the more mundane stories are told No larking around or fisticuffs No exciting tales to be told.
When I read the threads the following day It’s the night birds who’ve had all the fun Goodness knows how many posts RRd And no news of battles won.
I probably dreamed this but had to make up a rhyme somehow.

To my best mate margaret on your 60th birthday There are a few special words I'd like to say
Free prescriptions, a free bus pass, £200 to help pay for Electric and Gas Free eye test, cheaper hairdo, a jab to get rid of that nasty flu. Pensioners specials at the pub. NOT on drink just on grub. Cheaper entrance fees are paid. So many savings to be made.
There is 1 special reason I chose you as my friend It's hard to say, but I'll not pretend, The following reason is honest and true IT WAS BECAUSE I'M YOUNGER THAN YOU.

One by another
Robert Frost (1874–1963). Mountain Interval. 1920. 1. The Road Not Taken TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
Edit.......I just found the thread where Rose had already added the above 5 years ago

Not mine but one that I saved a while ago. I worked for the Children's Society many years ago & saw this happen many times.
Sharing By Elaine Rideau Tomlin
In the stillness of the morning - In the hush before the dawn - A cry screams through the silence - And a new life has been born.
And she wonders what will happen - To her newborn baby girl - How she wishes she could keep her - And protect her from the world.
But she knows that there are "others" - Who would gladly give the world - To have the chance to hold and love - Her precious little girl.
And she prays to God for guidance - As she holds that tiny hand - With the desperate hope that someday - Her child will understand.
So she bravely signs the papers - And the tears fall from her eyes - As she signs away her baby - The light inside her dies.
One last kiss she gives her darling - For the "others" have now come - To claim the life she gave them - Now a family has begun. .... Sorry not a cheerful poem, but in my mind a good one.

Can I just put a story about know it alls.
We had run out nearly of incontinence pads which Fred has in his trousers to sit on and on his bed sometimes just as a precaution because the carers only come three times a day.
I took one of thelastones to the pharmacy to see if I could buy a packet to see us through. Took it tothe assistant and said" Have you got any of these please?".
Because she only sold them in packets and had never seen a loose one she didn't know what it was and asked me. I said it was an incontinence pad and a woman in the next queue who evidently was most knowledgable siad in a fairly impatient and no nonsense way,"It's a Tena Lady." because we were bothtoo silly to know that.
Now,these incontinence pads are about two foot by one. Tena Lady? Where? How?

Susan 'Re The Road Not taken' which is my favourite...
" I travelled akin to Mr Frost on a road less travelled by but all it did was get me lost and now I sit and cry
I should the other way have passed found a different field to roam which might then have revealed, at last, A place I could call home"
lol you can tell I am not having a good day today ;-)
