Not at all creepy when there is a very valid reason to check if someone is who they say they are!

I don't lie and see absolutely no reason why I shouldn't say what I did and why I did it. At least I am honest and if my actions are frowned upon, I'll live :-D

I have never met anyone from here or any other site, I post infrequently but do read a lot of the threads, sometimes I post my opinion on something ,sometimes I find someone irritating and have said so but most times I just pass on to the next thread.
I don't post personal stuff on here and I would never dream of researching to find out if someone is married or not or have children or where they were born, doesn't actually matter to me if they are being truthful on here as I am never in all probability going to meet them, There may be reasons why someone invents a story around themselves but to me this place is cyber and I take some of what I read with a large pinch of salt.
Can't imagine why someone would want to google and check up on someone if not connected to their own line of research or maybe have been on WDYTYA.

I've been wary of the abilities of anyone 'looking me up' on here since I was told in no uncertain terms that 'Rose' is not my "real name" :-S

I told John outright I did check that he was the real person with the genuine name on his contact info. This was for one reason, his style was very familiar, it reminded me of an old member who caused huge amount of trouble on here.

However since then John told everyone that the name he gave was not his name, identity theft was it ? Even though he is easily contactable via the www due to his online publishing.

One cannot have privacy if you invite contact on the Internet. Searches are interwoven and a simple search brings up a multitude of links. They pop up at you even if you are not looking for them.

I never have and never would take the time to google anyone on here - what would be the point - liars always give themselves away

Me too! maybe I am a bit too trusting but I will take what being given until it rings alarm bells/ I wont agree to met ups or exchange of personal info unless I am VERY sure there is a family connection.

Think though that some who have had spats look like they want to carry on bitching which is sad.

makes no difference to me what people say online, as long as there ok with me,

im not looking to get personal with anyone online, and lways take what anyone says who i dont "know" with a pinch of salt, as long as there polite to me ill be polite back

I have been here a long time,and with one or two exceptions, I don't know anyone's marital status, whether they are happy or not, living 'alternatively', inventing their lifestyle....and it doesn't matter, as long as it has no affect on my 'real life'.

The only time I have LIED on here is when I said I had a knighthood and that I lived in a fairytale castle called Castell Coch. The reason I lied was to be droll and funny. Sorry if you believed I was a Sir and lived in a castle.

Have absolutely no reason to lie about anything else. There are a few details of my private life that I wish to keep private within my family. And however much I am provoked, I will not provide you with more information. I have had an extremely happy married life for over 33 years. Very proud of that actually.

Some people who omit to tell the truth, perhaps don't even see that as a "lie". I hate to disillusion anyone, friends in particular, so does one keep silent?

I haven't googled anyone on here...wouldn't DREAM of it....

No Ann it is not a dating site but think it is important that members are made aware of people that are not telling the truth ...genuine people dont need to invent a life to join a site .
