I don't know if we have had this before but I have just seen the following question in a magazine.

"What are your most memorable moments"

I am still thinking about mine but it has mae me realise that I have had a good life with many memorable moments.

Me too - it's hard to think of any memorable moment that truly stands out. Blessed aren't we?

Hello :-)

Well I guess the bad ones go a long way to making us who we are today.

Both I would say.

Here are some of mine - I may think of more:

In no particular order as they say:

Telling my parents that I had passed the scholarship aged ten.
Meeting my lovely OH and falling in love with him.
Getting married, I so enjoyed our wedding day.
The birth of both our children
Our daughter’s marriage and seeing her Dad bring her in to church
Our son’s marriage
The birth of our first grandchild
Then the birth of each of the other four grandchildren
The first time I saw The Grand Canyon
Then when I saw the other Canyons, Brice, Archers etc
Flying in a military helicopter from Gloucestershire to Oxford.
One night about midnight, staying near Anstruther Scotland (Fife) standing outside and watching the millions of stars in a completely clear sky with absolutely no light pollution – magical.

Memorable for not so good reasons:
Our daughter telling us she was to be divorced from her first husband who we liked a lot.
The death of our fifth grandson who was still born
The death of my Gt Gt nephew from ‘cot death’
Of course the death of my parents, but they had both lived a good long life.

June 2011, when my oh squeezed my hand when he was on a life support machine, cant really describe the feeling , except it was Hope and answer to many prayers...

the best moment ever in my life was when my OH [then my fiance] came home from Singapore where he was doing his National Service - we hadn't seen or spoken to each other for nearly two years - he arrived in Cardiff on the night of 8th December 1958 - I'd left the key under a stone in the back garden of my parents house for him - had no idea exactly when he would arrive but slept fitfully and then I heard our old spaniel give a little growl and I knew he had arrived - I ran downstairs and met him in the hall - paradise - absolute paradise - and a memory that will live with me until the day I die

The worst moment was the day he died after being diagnosed with a rare untreatable incurable lung disease - they gave him five years - he didn't last a year - the end came quickly but it was a violent harrowing death that he had to suffer and one that I had to watch - fortunately a morphine jab ended it

Good and bad then Anne

And I should have added similar re the good on mine. OH had only been away for 6 months on H.M.S. Eagle but we were married with a 3 year old and it seemed like a life time. I remember waiting overlooking Plymouth Sound, parked just below the Hoe in 1965. We saw the ship go past us and then drove to the dockyard and waited until they all (you cannot imagine how many there were in that ship's company) disembarked. Every time I watch military homecomings I remember that moment, they had been deployed off Malaysia so close to a war situation although nowhere near as bad as Afghanistan of course. But I was so glad to see him home.

brilliant Marilyn - and you're right, it does bloody hurt - that's why I only did it once!!!

Although I did manage to lose three which was rather careless of me :-(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Sep 2012 13:18

I can imagine that Marilyn. :-)
I was fortunate both my labours were relatively pain free (relatively as I didn't need stitches for either and both fairly short) and soon forgotten.

Grandchildren are the best, a beautiful baby to hold and no labour!!!

This is a mixture of good and bad memorable moments...

The day I found out I was pregnant
The birth of my son
The death of my beloved father
The night I lost my virginity
The births of my lovely grandchildren
The death of my youngest brother
The day my cosy, RC mother told me she didn't believe in God or a hereafter

I have left out other memorable moments as being a little too 'dark' for General!

:-D ;-) <3
