when you think that here in Wales there are more sheep than people it's a ridiculous price - it's not as if you have to feed sheep - they just eat grass!!! Think you can buy a whole sheep alive for about a fiver - and how is it that lamb from NZ is cheaper than home produced?? |

Not going in to details from the lamb grazing on grass until it reaches the wholesaler..... the price paid at Smithfield Meat Market last week was £90 + per lamb .......so by the time these reach the shops after cutting and transport it does rise considerably. The price charged in restaurants for some cuts like best end is mind blowing ! |

My daughter and family have sheep, pigs and chickens which they eventually eat most of. The grand children want to name them but my daughter said if we give them names I can't eat them. Each year they buy and feed up two turkeys for Christmas one for them and one for her inlaws. Daughter insists they aren't named. One Christmas whilst eating dinner she mentioned how nice the turkey was and grand daughter said "mum your're eating Colin, dad gave Bertie to grand dad" That was her meal over. |

Jo you will now be the envy of most of us. The only time we eat lamb is usually when we can get it reduced when it is a short 'eat by' date. Daughter brought a half shoulder they'd bought reduced when they came last time. It was lovely. |
