Allan Report 10 Aug 2012 22:56

lol Suzanne.

OH's choir is having a sausage sizzle this morning (conventional sausages, nothing small and furry). The store that helps out by providing the venue, barbeques, gas etc stipulate that you must have enough sausages and buns to last between 9.00am and 4.00pm. If you run out of things before the end time you have to source more.

We currently have 400 sausages in our spare fridge with another 500 at the butchers which i have to collect before he closes at 12.00 pm. And there's just short of 900 presliced buns in another shop.

OH and I went to collect the ready sliced onions yesterday, all 30 kgs of them......from the local prison!!

oh let me guess,he couldnt resist the urge to BBQ a big fat wombat, much better than boring sausages, but of course you cant do that in front of lots of people, much better in the privacy of your own home. :-D

Lol Suzanne and Sue

Suzanne, I know that you won't see this until later, but the sausage sizzle started at 7.30am West Oz time and is still in full swing. I've left my OH to it!

My abrupt departure from the Thread this morning was bexause I had realised I had to be down at the store to help set up stand etc.

Our first drama occurred when I went to get the sausages out of our fridge. OH had turned the setting down and half of the flaming things were frozen.

Next drama, one of the ladies from the choir went to pick up the buns. No buns!! The delivery from Perth had not turned up. So at 8.00am when the supermarkets opened there was a massive hunt for buns.

The original shop was so embarrased about the stuff up that they gave the choir about 50 buns, at no charge, to tied us over until we could buy some more. Unfortunately, they were not presliced so they also donated a knife!

Wombat stew sounds nice, and after seperating over 700 sausages (and they thought that they were happily married!) any thing other than sausages sounds appealing

oh ALLAN
you should have made a big vat of small furry animal stew and kept it in the fridge in case of emergency"s.you could have passed it off as chicken casserole when you ran out of sausages. :-D :-D

Allan

Allan Report 12 Aug 2012 22:06

lol Suzanne :-D

Unfortunately, the store stipulates that you must have sufficient sausages and buns to trade from about 8.30 am to 4.00pm. The choir did run out of buns and had to source some more, so small furry animal stew would not have been permitted.

I'll now add curry powder to it and take it to the local restaurant :-D

Incidentally, the choir ended up making nearly $2000.00 after everything had been paid for :-D :-D

fantastic ALLAN

and no small furry animal was hurt during the raising of such a brilliant sum of money.
well done.
can i ask what the money was for?x

Allan

Allan Report 12 Aug 2012 22:31

Hi Suzanne

The money is for the choir's funds.

The choir is officially known as 'The Bunbury Catholic Diocesan Liturgical Choir'. Funnily enough the only place that the Choir don't sing in is the local Catholic Cathedral.

They do travel to various Parishes in the area to sing in the churches at various times.

As the Bunbury takes in an area from Mandurah in the North, down to Albany and Esperance, there are many churches to sing in.

In January of this year they went to Albany and sayed at a school camp (I went with them but stayed in a hotel. I might be an idiot, but I'm not stupid!) so the funds help with those type of costs.

The choir do get a grant of $300.00 a year from the Bishop who a couple of years ago threatened to withdraw support. The choir immediately wrote back and said fine, we've talked to the Anglicans (the two cathedrals are on the same street) who said we would be more than welcome there. Support was never withdrawn :-)

The problem is that the old Bishop loved the choir but when he passed away his replacement didn't!

Allan

Allan Report 12 Aug 2012 23:37

Suzanne, some people have no sense of humour but a great sense of their own importance!!

With all my posts about small furry animals why haven't they been reported?

Why report a thread about vaseline fgs.

Obviously my last thread above was meant to be tongue in cheek, but it now seems that life is imitating art.

I've only ever RR'd one thread and that was because it was a triplicate thread and not relevant to any of them really, but I only reported it on the Find Living Ancestors Board, It is still on general.

Ah well, "such is life" as Ned Kelly is reported to have said, just before they hanged him :-(
