We don't normally do our weekly shop on Saturdays as we have time during the week. But with being away until Tuesday and other things happening we didn't have time this week so had to go this morning. You'd think it was Christmas or New year huge trolly loads, long queues. On the Saturdays we have been before it has not been half as busy, what is going on? Surely the Olympics can't affect it? Luckily as we approached the check outs they opened three new ones right where we were so didn't have long to wait. But some people the other end of the shop were queued a long way back. |

Once I was in a position not to have to shop on a Saturday I steered clear. |

As I said we usually steer clear, although for some reason Friday is worse than the Saturdays we have been. We usually go Tuesday or Thursday. |

We usually go on OH's rest day which rotate - but I will insist on going on a Thursday (when he is off) and I get so annoyed - lots of older people wandering aimlessly about. |

Being one of the 'older' people I have to say I find Mum's and toddlers all shouting and screaming and running around your feet or (worse) sitting/standing in trollies more annoying than most older people. But easy to generalise and I bet my OH and I are quicker at packing our stuff into our (own) bags than many younger couples who seem to take for ever. And young women never seem to have their club card, credit card or money ready either. |

I do not get the folk who insist on packing everything away before they then start looking for their purse and then pay. Unable to multitask. |

Well we pack before I get my card out but I do know exactly where it is and don't have to rummage through numerous bags, pockets etc. I actually wear a 'bum' bag to the supermarket so I know exactly where my purse, card etc are. And I keep my hand on it too while shopping. |

I don't think I advocated having your purse out and definitely not to put down on the counter but it is the people who don't seem to know where their purse is that aggravate a little (oh OK a lot) :-D |

I'm almost always on my own when food shopping and keep my bag on my should while I pack, and the trolly is between the check outs so it isn't nicked while I'm not looking, I rumage for my card some times and it takes seconds, I often wonder why people are so impatient it's not like it takes 5 or 10 minutes and they might die or anything. |

Sorry, Ann, that sounded snippy and I didn't mean it to. I've encountered people who seem to take ages to find their purse, although it never seems to be at supermarket checkouts where I'm happy to have the extra couple of minutes to finish loading up my shopping onto the conveyor belt as it's usually only me who goes shopping. |
