I heard a dish of beer helps get them sozzled

thinks will have to try a nearly empty can of lager on its side,

see If that will trap em!!

My neighbour swears by a dish of beer ( and for the slugs) he doesn't grow veg tho.....but if it entices them into his garden to get sozzled ...great :-D

We haven't tried it yet, hubby uses slug pellets and I have no compunction about about giving them a dose of salt. They have no right in my garden and just are just slimy pests.

S*d the food chain, I'll feed the birds..perhaps I do too much and that's why they don't eat my slugs ! There's plenty of other slugs they can eat !!
Song comes to mind..There was an old lady who swallowed a fly, I don't know why she wallowed a fly etc etc.

Darn things go walk about on patio every night. cant put slug pellets down as we have Harold the tortoise wandering about. so its nuking with the salt drum every night and sometimes during the day when yet another downpour brings em out.

Any food Harold has left on his plate is decimated by the morning.

Only thing with salt is you then have the slime to clean up . YUK

We seldom get them on the patio, tho the main flowered area is on the same level , 3 steps down to the veg garden ,lawn and shrub area and there's no end of the the bleeding slimy things.
Try this site for ideas of controlling /eliminating them.

I've done the eggshell one before, but not tried planting fennel and rosemary.

Trish Devon Report 11 Jul 2012 19:14

Had a look on the website you mentioned Sparkling Sandie.
I have tried the eggshells, didnt stop them,
had to laugh at the photo on the site saying they noticed a few holes on the leaves of the plant, does your plant look like this?
I have no leaves left, just stalks,
my poor beautiful salvias,alas are no more. :-0 :-0 :-0 :-D
