Stray, Hayley does have a point. At your age 4 'dayers' are easy, not so much when you get older :-D

I think the Royal family have been a tonic for the nation this last week. So many happy, smiling people on TV in London, kids happy at school, pre-school etc. all over the country with all the street parties and dressing up. Neighbours have got to know each other, houses have looked lovely and although a lot of oney may have been spent on decorations and BBQ food, that has been great for local economy.

I hope I and the Queen are around for the 70th anniversary :-D

I had thought she looked tired on the way to St Pauls yesterday, but I suspect it was more concern and disappointment over the Duke. However on the balcony she looked radiant again, she does love a fly past!!! And she smiled all the time at the crowds which must look fantastice from that balcony. Loved it all, great weekend. :-)

Admiration must go to her for her staying power.......and dont know any of that age that could endure all that without signs of wariness or flagging.

There were a couple of times she looked like she just wanted to sit down with her feet up and a nice cuppa...but she does really really well for her age...an inspiration. She deserves a break in Balmoral now..

she did look tired at some stages but I think thats just the look she has sorta miserable and glum as per usual.

The Queen is still partying.... at the Commonwealth lunch today

What a girl :-D

TeresaW Report 6 Jun 2012 10:36

The only time I saw 'the look' on her face was when Elton John was on the stage...other than that, she looked serious at times, but I bet she was missing Phillip.

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 6 Jun 2012 10:37

Wow Mau...she's certainly showing the young'uns how to party isn't she? :-D

Or as Jimmy Carr said, just shows what you have to do when you didn't take out a pension fund!!! ;-)

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 6 Jun 2012 10:41

She certainly is Teresa :-) and I sometimes think ,we don't know if perhaps the Queen has a headache or something amiss, but she has to carry on ........unlike us who can (more often than not) opt out......

Kay?? - sometime get someone to take an unexpected photo of you when you are not laughing but possibly deep in thought or concentrating on what is in front of you.

Could you have a smile on your face for hours at a time?

The Queen has a beauiful smile, when she does her face lights up - thus was ever so even when she was a teenager.

I did feel sad to see an old lady climb the steps to St Pauls unaccompanied - surely Charles could have been by her side? But perhaps she felt that no one could fill her Phillip's shoes.

I enjoyed the weekend in spite of constant bloomers - the one which greatly annoyed me and even Charles fell in that pit was the constant reference to being 26 when responsibility fell on her shoulders.

Her father died 6 Feb 1952, she was born 21 April 1926 which makes her 25 at the time of his death and 27 when she was crowned in June 1953.

I think if the Queen needed a helping hand, she would have asked for it...otherwise protocol prevents anyone helping. He did keep an eye on her though.

As for Kay...I've met her, and believe me, when she scowls...EEEK!!! :-D :-D
