Well at least the Jehovah Witnesses don't go round beheading people unlike the Islamists in Pakistan who have murdered a Red Cross worker there.

It would seem they slit his throat first before beheading him, and he was there to help people.

I am not into religion in any way I find most of them all seem to be tared with the same brush, BUT, Islam is something else, barbaric and medieval,
So by comparison, the JW mob aren't too bad.

My computers sooo slow!!!!

I knew the son of a JW family who didn't believe, and wouldn;t go to services. His father hasn't let him near the family since. So much for the family in some religions - and what hypocrasy - telling me I'm evil for 'not believing then throwing out family who don't 'toe the line'.

When my grand daughter was born, a woman who lived near my daughter asked when she was going to be Baptised. My daughter replied 'When & if she wants to be' - the woman retorted that my grand daughter would 'rot in hell' - like that's going to change anyone's opinion/belief!!!

Grand daughter is now 10 an has better manners than that old bag.
Even my 4 year old grandson, on asking daughter what an antique was, was told it's something old, stated that 'Granny is an antique' . Daughter asked if he would call me an antique to my face, grandson replied 'No, it may upset granny, and she might get upset and grumpy'!!
There's real empathy and morals!!

Ah, Mr Magoo, it's the Mormons who have been collecting details of our ancestors - and converting them after death!!! I know many of my ancestors would be turning in their graves if they knew. Never a religious lot, they only entered the church out of 'necessity'- ie couldn't get married unless you were baptised, and could only marry in a church etc.

Having said that, my dad converted to Islam when i was 12 - even taught it, but never expected anyone else in the family to follow his belief.
I tell JW's I'm either Jewish or Islam.

I also noticed, years ago when a JW family lived up the road - we were remote, there were about 10 cottages down a dirt track - not only would would they not let their children play with the only other children in the road - my 2 and my friend's 2 - when they had 'conventions' and they started swarming, a couple came to my house, when my girls - aged 2 & 4 came haring out of the Wendy house naked - they (the JW's)scarpered!!! After that I just told them the children were naked (which they were most of the summer)!!

Well, i agree there. Anyone can and should be free to worship or believe in who or what they want to and i would shed my own blood to defend that, no matter how ridiculous it is.

But dont abuse that freeedom by trying to shove beliefs down my throat, no matter how polite, smiling and well dressed they are. Keep the beliefs where they belong, private and in a church or temple. A smile or a nice suit doesnt make any of it sensible or believable or right.

When I used the word respect maybe I did not make myself clear.
I believe that everyone has the right to worship whom, where and when they wish and reserve the right to do so myself. (or not as the case may be)
Any unwanted and unsolicited callers can be bothersome as can junkmail.
All I was trying to say is, that from experiance, if dealt with in a friendly, firm but respectful manner you can achieve the result you desire.
My request of, please do not call again, said with a smile, has been honoured.

It is in JWs rules that they do not harrass people. ie If they've been told by a householder that not interested please do not call again then that should be it.

I've been living here just over 10 years and I think they've knocked here 2 maybe 3 times. I just said I wasn't interested, they would offer me a leaflet which I would accept and put in the recycling bag after shutting the door. You can write to the kingdom hall and ask them to take you off the list.

Now chuggers and utilities are a pain in the neck.

They are allowed it in moderation as long as they dont smoke and heaven forbid being gay.....

With regard to respect, the days when religion of any kind was entitled to automatic respect are now over. There is now no get out of jail card for any belief system, which is how it should be. It means that people are free to question, criticise, lampoon or merely scorn religion inthe same way as people have done to, say, politics, for many years now. There is absolutely no reason why any respect should be automatically afforded to something that hasn't earned it.

The internet is largely responsible for that. People are now free to voice their views and to seek answers to awkward questions that were, in the past, glossed over or dismissed.

mind was at a after fuction funeral couple +years ago and the neice has converted some years before......no problem for the family.......her husband whos been JW all his life and conforms to the letter,,,,,,,,,had to be taken home,,,,,,,,,,he was toxic...... :-D :-D :-D :-D...

I'm always polite if they catch me, but one time they came, I think I was probably on the phone or in the middle of something, and Dan went to the door and I heard the words "No sorry my mum and I are Satanists, goodbye!" and the door closing firmly....

Take no notice of Eldrick even the JW dont call at his house, on account he padlocks the gate and keeps them for days, he doesnt get much human company you see :-P

I do understand people getting fed up when unwanted groups continue to knock on their doors. I really do understand but its a long time since any of them knocked on my door ( although they do knock on the neighbours) because I told them quite firmly and politely....No thankyou and please do not call again.
I also understand your point of view Eldrick. I dont agree with a lot of teachings from a lot of religions but that does not mean that I dont respect a person for holding an opinion just as I hope they would respect me for the opinions I hold.
I am all for a peaceful life me, so each to their own and if makes them happy then let them enjoy it BUT I always say No Thankyou at my front door and they never try and push their views on me. Firm but polite.
I dont enter into debates with anyone on my doorstep.

Oh my I think I am the only one that answers the door to them with a smile, I have 2 ladies that call on me every month and have done so for the past 10 years or so could be longer, when I first answered the door to them I told them very politely that I am a christian but stil respect their faith just choose to continue with mine, the didnt argue I did ask them what they was about and they left a very nice booklet all in colour with pictures that explained their religion and they leave me 2 watch towers every month and have never asked hinted or suggested a small large or even medium contrabution.

Infact about 5 years ago 2 different ladies called and when I told the regular ones they were outraged as I said they get nothing off me but a smile and thank you ,or polite chitchat . :-D
