Please read the ;permission slip' a dialogue between a teacher and parent ALL the way through. It will take a time but well worth it for all the chuckles.

Once, my friend Simon was rushed to hospital to have his appendix removed and I visited him the next day to find his bed empty. I immediately sacrificed a goat and burnt a witch in his name but it turned out that he had not had appendicitis, just needed a good poo, and was at home playing Playstation.

>>>>I almost had a senior moment when i read that :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I must be on a different planet ....so b-o-r-i-n-g. Obviously the writer must enjoy being the centre of attention. Why couldn't he just say 'no'. -jl

It's called humour. There's different types.....there's the psychic and astrological type, where you know in advance what the punch line is so you can laugh before you hear it, which is why you see so many astrologers walking round the street with wide grins on their faces and sometimes even drooling from the corner of their mouths through laughing so much even though they haven't seen or heard anything funny! How cool is that!

Then theres biblical humour, which means you aren't allowed to laugh at anything, so it's a sort of anti - humour really, but apparently being happy and laughing are two different things. This sort of humour is only understood by the devout believers in Pickiwickidoodah and those that wear hair shirts and beat themselvs with nettles and raw fish.

Then there's real humour that makes the majority of people laugh in one way or another, it's difficult to define but, like lots of things in life, it gives you a warm feeling and the laughter gene kicks in for those that are blessed with it. A rush of endorphins evokes a strange sensation and makes you forget about being miserable - hence the old saying 'laughter is the best medicine'. A wave of humour-based neurons rushes your brain and central nervous system and makes you want to be friends with people and share funny stories. Sadly, not everyone shares this ability. Many of them realise this and branch off into being warlords, archbishops and politicians.

So, you may be non the wiser now but at least you are better informed.

Thank you E for the explanation but I did have a laugh at Dermot's biblical funny the other day and I do remember not expecting the punch line. So still a little confused-.....I remember a rush of endorphins when I drunk my coffee this morning but when I went back to the thread it had been whooshed -jl

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 7 Apr 2012 14:37

Well, thats good then. So you're not psychic and you're not an astrologer. I know that you know that I'm only kidding, there, 'cos theres no such things hahahahaha.

I nearly went on that thread to say I thought it was boring and not funny, but it wasn't, it was quite funny actually so I permitted myself a quiet chuckle, despite it being Oestre. All the bible threads make me smile, actually, so its a win win situation for everyone!
