We only saw a few acts cause we were changing channels most of the evening.
The 2 guys dancing were very different but so graceful and so good...wow...but will they go much further??

The opera singer was so nervous and so lacking in confidence, his partner was very good too, and such a good friend, hopefully in time they will each be able to sing solo!!
Simon was as usual looking at them thinking oh my god what have we here, so were the audiance.....they were all gobsmacked!!
l had a feeling something special was about to happen.

$parkling $andie,

I don't understand why you felt the need to be so rude in your response.

I do like the song very much, as it happens. I certainly didn't say I didn't like the choir because, as I said, I don't watch the programme. So how could I pass comment on something I didn't see?

I don't like the programme or Simon Cowell. His ignorance of the existence of such a beautiful song is another reason to add to the list of reasons I don't watch his programme. I made no suggestion, just stated a fact.

I confess I'm bewildered by the vehemence of your response to me.

We thought it was very entertaining, even the madcap acts. The judges had more of a relaxed attitude, I think due to the presence of David Walliams, and didn't take themselves too serious.

Gwynne, I think it was somehow the sequence of the posts and Sandie took it to mean that you didn't watch it because the song was special to Wales. It is sort of how it came over and I was puzzled as well but I knew you had nothing against Wales. (Sandie being Welsh).

By the way, went to Batsford yesterday. Your fault for putting the photos on FB and reminding me. :-D

Good morning, Ann, :-)

I posted in response to Rose's original question -"Can you believe Simon had never heard Calon Lan before?" My reply to that "Yet another reason to be glad I never watch it."

The song is special to me as well, my grandfather used to sing it to me when I was a child.

I'll sign with my full name, for a change. :-D

Gwynneth

PS Hope you enjoyed Batsford - daffs are lovely this year.

found Calon Lan on YouTube........... thought I'd heard it before......... ofcourse! The Welsh sing it at rugby! :-D The Boys were SO good

Jonathon and Charlotte were AMAZING! She gives him so much support, and he wasn't leaving her behind, despite what Simon said! That's what friends do <3 <3......... but Jonathon will go on from BGT...... :-D

I'm not Welsh, but I have cousins in Gwynfryn <3

Sorry that the way I put the question has caused a little aggravation :-( It was a really a rhetorical question re Simon not having heard Calon Lan, I know not everyone will have heard every song lol, it's just that being in the business I thought he would have done so...somewhere!

I like Simon actually, I don't think he's always right, but I suppose having seen him speak on behalf of the dogs trust it's another side of him...I work on the principal that people who love dogs can't be all bad ;-)

I watch the programme through my fingers often, as some of it makes me cringe (or switch over) but it gives people a chance, much as Opportunity Knocks used to.

Ann I did watch part of 'The Voice' also, quite a good idea, when I am on the PC I have my back to the tv so I heard the voices before turning round to look also lol.

Rambling Report 25 Mar 2012 13:01

If anyone's around the programme is being repeated now, The Sugar Dandies are on, so still time to watch the choir again :-D

well being Welsh through and through I sang Calon Lan in school many many times, and always watch the rugby internationals, but must confess I can't recall Calon Lan at a rugby match - plenty of other Welsh songs, but never that - Delilah lots of times

Anyway, that said, I followed the growth of Only Boys Aloud on S4C and it was fantastic - he is now doing "Only kids aloud" - saw the first bit on S4C last night - boys and girls - brilliant as usual

I can't see those guys dancing going much further really, excellent though they were and as for the 17 year old tenor, big things in store for him I'm sure

I also watched "The Voice" on BBC with Tom Jones - now that is the best wy to judge a voice - the four judges sit with their backs to the singers

Gwynne, Yes Batsford was great, unfortunately it took us longer to get there than it should. Moreton in Marsh must be the worst place in the Cotswolds for causing traffic jams and we always avoid it on Market days. However, no market on Saturdays so, instead of us going via Winchcombe etc to Batsford we decided to go via Stow. Wrong decision. In the middle of Moreton they have road works of some sort (couldn't quite see as we don't go through) these were traffic light controlled, just before the lights is a small roundabout, we wanted to go left, most want to go straight on. Traffic coming from the left (Batsford road) and turning left was blocking the roundabout continually so main road traffic was jammed back to STOW!!! We were in that jam for half an hour.

But it was worth it tos ee the daffodils and the beautiful magnolias. Took loads of photos.

Apologies Rose for going off topic!!

Guinevere.

I did not think I was rude in my response to your post, I think Ann in Glos summed it up.

''Yet another reason to be glad I never watch it.''... nothing else to say why you had reasons not to watch it , sounded to me as they were a Welsh choir seemed as if you were anti Welsh, as I said I very rarely watch the prog.

If you thought of it as rude..Sorry....it was not intended to be , just a reaction to your comment above.

Sandie.

It was a misunderstanding Gwynne, hope there are no ill feelings.

I hope the Choir get through, tho unexpectedly the judges initially thought it was the 2 boys, everyone knows 'they 'are now a choir.

I watched 'The Voice' thinking Jonathan Antoine was going to be on there. I turned over just in time to hear the last part of him singing with Charlotte,(whom may I say in my opinion has a beautiful voice although I didn't hear much) Simon Cowell was very cruel and crass to tell him to ditch the poor girl on T.V. in front of millions of viewers, she must be traumatised, she went on
with him because he was too nervous to go on alone, Look what we would have lost!!!

P.S. I don't like the way the 'stars' carried on trying to get the performers to choose them, It was very shallow, I shan't watch it again.
