I always use sprouts for my bubble and squeak, tastes lots nicer than with cabbage, and yes got to have lots of crusty bread with it, yummy. I wonder why we have to 'catch' the bottom of it before it's done, maybe it tastes better.

I've been thinking of this Amokavid and I can't think of anyone who doesn't make it, even my three chilidren. Another favourite is bubble and squeak. With the price of food now more and more people are going to make it.

Maybe it is Amokavid but still a good value and tasty meal, and a favourite to boot.

Only one way to have it, with crispy bacon and brown sauce, lovely. I use the same as AinG as it doesn't go sloppy.

Never cooked or eaten corned beef hash. Too much fat in corned beef for me.

Feeling hungry now talk of scouse and corn beef hash, the brilliant thing about both of these are they are even better next day :-D
Tina originally from St Catherine/Oriel Road, went to St Winfrides school , what about you, drove past the about month ago, don't recognise it any more :-(
Another thing we used to eat not sure if anyone else had this was mixed grated cheese with onion, Mum used to add a bit of water and put under the grill this was really nice hot with crusty bread, seh sometime put an egg on the top too, anyone else have this ?

Think it must be a north south thing as no one in my family have ever cooked corned beef, the thought of gravy on it ugh.

Went home from my first school dinner and told them we had had salad with dog meat.

I had never encountered luncheon meat (how posh) before.

Have only ever seen corned beef hash once and was not eating it myself then. Have been vege for centuries but am always on the look for a dish I can adapt. Don't think it will be this one though.

I've had the same argument many times with my friend from Leigh - I'm a scouser (also from Bootle originally Sheila!) and make it like Libby and my frien d make the stew version.

I was telling my Dad about it a while ago and he said the stew was corned beef hash but what we make is corned beef mash. Am now gobsmacked as I have been calling it hash since I was little.

Scouse with red cabbage and beetroot - yummmm! :-D :-D
