hello peeps, its been a busy day catching up.had to do a big shop and replenish the dwindling freezer and cupboards.

much better day in general, the old happy, bossy, character reappeared and she is eating and drinking well.

stil lots of tel calls and visitors but people mean well and its lovely that they care.

dont want to turn this into a daily blog as that was not my intention.

i do however thankyou for your good wishes and will update from time to time.

it could happen to anyone with teenage children especially girls around 14, but those who had neuroblastoma stage 4 have a 9% higher chance of developing pancreatic diabetes especially when they only have 40 % of their pancreas left after previous surgery.this was something we were unaware of.

however we are glad she is back with us and hope there are no more surprises in store!

thanks again all you lovely supportive people on here. i really hope that one day i may get to meet some of you, that would be wonderful.

a very late hello peeps. thankyou so much for all your kind words and good wishes. it has been a busy day with non-stop phone calls and visitors. the diabetic nurse also came this afternoon and stayed for 2 hours!

she was very thorough and really helpful in arranging a chat with teachers, check ups and tips on food etc. so really appreciated that. she also left a mobile in case of anything we are worried about, which was reassuring.

i felt drained today as dawnie said, its now its hit me the tiredness. when in hospital, you thrive on adrenalin and dont have time to think when things happen so fast.

but i hope over the weekend it will slow down and slowly return to a normality. she wasnt drinking much today and was very moody which i understand may continue for a bit until she fullly comes to terms with it,

although she is happy to administer the insulin etc, she may think that in a couple of weeks it will go away and thats that. we will have to keep an eye on her self esteem.

i hope to go into the school next week for a short time and let her see her friends and work on that day by day. not expecting too much too soon.

so am tired tonight more than last night although we all slept so well! theres no place like home.

nite nite and thankyou so much for all your messages

Florence what a nightmare of a couple of weeks it will be now it really hits you as you have probably been in coping mode while at hospital and now back home you will feel the exhaustion etc more.

Glad daughter is managing her own injections she sounds a tough cooking who will just see this as another hurdle and get on with life.

Love to you all

Hi Florence, sorry I missed this last night. What an awful shock for you, I do know how scared you must have been and how helpless you felt.

Thank goodness that the doctors have diganosed her and she'll receive the correct treatment.

Makes you want to hug them and never stop doesn't it?

Take care of yourself too.

So sorry to hear that you have both been through this Florence, what a shock for you and for her. I am so pleased that she came through it OK and wish her a speedy recovery. It sounds as if she is going to be able to adapt to it and manage it herself so well done to her for that. <3 :-)

Florence, I am so sorry your poor girl has had to cope with so much in such a short time, and of course it must have been awful for you and all her family. Thank heavens for air ambulances and such, it's great that you got such a good response from her doctor and all the medics etc.

I do hope she will soon feel lots better and can get back to school with her friends, you must be very proud of the way she is dealing with the diabetes.

My late Mum had to learn to do all that when in her early sixties after a heart attack pushed her diabetes to type 1? She practised the injections on an orange in the hospital and soon got to grips with it all.

My son's girlfriend has a little lad of 3 who has to have injections before every meal or similar, he seems very young to be diabetic.

I hope things go more smoothly for you and your family from now on, you take care of yourself after such a shock, don't want you being poorly now.
