Just be aware - do not buy face cream from a company called Revita La Peau on the internet. I and several hundred other people have been stung big time by this company and if you put their name into the search engine you will see what I mean

I paid just under £3.00 each for two small pots of cream - wasn't that impressed and forgot about it, until last Monday when my bank statement arrived when I discovered I have been charged £154.94 for the two pots. Even though I feel embarrassed and a right twit, I have to warn people.

Went straight to my bank who gve me the number of the fraud department for Barclays - they in turn gave me the number of the company - in the UK - by the way, the fraud department were fully aware of this company. When I spoke to the company and expressed my horror at the charges they informed me that I had not read the terms and conditions properly and had I cancelled within a given time I would not have received the full charge for the cream!!! The refused a refund and ended the call with "Have a nice day"

So warn everyone you know - it is an innocuous looking advert and it was the fact that they used someone allegedly from Cardiff that drew my attention to it in the first place

thats discusting
if the bank are aware of it they should give you your money back
some times it pays to pay by credit card
they would refund your money and take it up with the company

because it was just a small amount I used my debit card!!!

If they were advertising in a Cardiff newspaper Ann I wonder if it would pay to contact trading standards to ask them to publish a warning in the paper. Or even the paper itself. I hate these types of firms. Con artists masquerading as honest retailers.

AnninGlos Report 23 Feb 2012 21:41

Just re read and you say internet. Maybe get your local paper to publish a warning.

I'm going to try and spread it as far and wide as possible - apparently it's been on a Welsh programme - X-Ray, but I didn't see it

If you look on the web, complaints are still coming in today

The Revita la Peau Group currently has 387 Filed Reports and $94,368 in Total Reported Damages.

From one web site. So why hasn't anything been done about it legally I wonder? :-S

Hi Ann,
If this is the same cream that the story on RIP Off Britain was about, the lady was charged every month for a supply of the cream. By not cancelling in the 'trial period' she had effectively 'agreed' to enter into the contract and apparently it was one that could only the company could cancel!! The couple interviewed had lost hundreds of pounds.
