I did something today that was really terrible and stupid. It was driving related and I am now going to get three points on my licence and a probable ?60 fine. I have been driving for 36 years with a clean licence so far.I consider myself a careful driver and never go over the speed limit. It was a split second loss of concentraction and I feel so bad about it.(Nobody was hurt by the way) |

If you get caught speeding once in 36 years you are not doing too bad. |

No point in thinking about what could have happened Ann - because it didn't. It's not the worse driving offence and a lot of us have suffered from a loss of concentration at some time. Try not to let it upset you too much. |

It seems that we who passed our test in a horse and cart make as many mistakes as young lads. It is just that we have the experience to rectify the situation. |

Did you get the option of a driver awareness day? |

same thing happened to me - 74 years old, driving for over 40 years and got caught by a camera I knew well, on a suburban road by the way, I was doing 37 mph apparently. I got offered the chance to go on a driver improvement course and thereby avoid the points and the fine so I took that option. The course cost around £80, so financially I was no better off, but the points would have increased my insurance I imagine, so all's well that ends well |
