The generators used to get shot at quite often out there. re the big bang, bet i woke a few of them up. Used to spend time in the Ledra Palace Hotel In Nicosia,last I heard it was falling down. Shame it was nice there. As for prickles leaving a "Little Puddle on the Floor" Little???? Large more like. However, I gather she,s House Trained now and is quite good using the litter tray. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D ;-).Off now to feed the Pussies.they get hungry about now. thanks for the laughs,and nice to talk Pat. Sorry Prickly Holly but ex service people do like to reminisce.

We were here as the problems restarted in 72. Wasn't about the British this time. OH posted to UK in 73 so we were out of it when the war happened in 74.

OH came back, he was a tech for radar on Bloodhound (SAMs). Had to come out twice in 74, after it calmed down to pack away site and get all the equipment out of Cyprus.

Shame they still haven't sorted out the problem but the powers that be are useless. Did you hear about our little explosion early last July. Government left 98 containers (ship containers) of explosives in the sun for over 2 years and it went up early one morning. Killing 13, injuring nearly 70 who were travelling on the highway. There was shrapnel everywhere on the highway, and it took out the nearby main electric generator for the island.

But we still enjoy it here.

Regular, not NS. Spent some time in the military Hospital there,Best one in the Middle East. Episcopi was a Signals Base then.And we naerly caught Grivas in Limasol. be he got away dressed as a Woman. COUPLE OF LARGE ONION THINLY SLICED
EGG
SHRED CABBAGE THINLY
FRY ONIONS TO JUST OVER HALF COOKED
ADD CABBAGE FRY TILL BOTH CRISPY
IF FOR ONE MAKE HOLE IN MIDDLE
AND FRY EGG IN IT
OR PUT FRIED /POACHED EGG ON TOP

Was at Akrotiri for about 2 weeks, then sent up the road to Episkopi, stayed there until I married in 71 and was sent to the families dental centre at Limassol, also did trips to capital due lack of dental cover at RAF Nicosia, they were running it down.

Our son was born at the hospital at Akrotiri 73, built after your time. Assume you were a National Serviceman here at time of EOKA.

Not the best time to be on the island.

WRAF 1967 - 1972. Dental nurse classed as medical so didn't see a gun all my 5 years. Just told keep your head down if anything kicks off.
