I can't be the only one who doesn't like January much and finds 'depressing stuff' even more so than usual? Christmas is nice, and February is almost spring...but January just sits there in between lol.

So what's cheering you at the moment?

I am enjoying watching the birds in the garden and the first sight of bulbs coming through and thinking about what seeds or plants to get..

The nights getting shorter again.

Looking forward to the new series of Dancing on Ice ( just watching last years performers).

Reading all the contributions from the writers group members.

Yep I'm fed up with gloom and doom too. Quite enough in my own life to get low about at the mo without it leaking in elsewhere .....

I also like the nights getting longer

I'm cheered at the fact that this winter is much milder than the 2 before cos I was sick to death of shivering constantly.

Happy that my girls are having a great time at school and I don't have to worry about them.

I also get pleasure from reading ...just not enough time to do it as often as I'd like...and from my dogs who endlessly make me laugh at the stupid things they do !

ooooo and watching prof Brian Cox on TV....yum lol xx

Hiya to both of you Roses.

The same as you RR, really with the exception of Dancing on Ice. We have never been into this. But, I see that the BBC are advertising some new dramas, so that will be interesting.
We usually go at the end of this month to start off the season in the garden, to the garden centres to get out seed potatoes. This is the first sign for us that the next gardening season won't be long around the corner.
I have been busy downloading free knitting patterns, so they will keep me busy for a while.
Sometimes, it is the simple things that bring enjoyment.
RoseoftheShires, Happy Birthday to your Dad, and hope you all have a lovely day out tomorrow.

Take Care

I too hate Jan Rose but I am cheerful this year as this time in 2 weeks I have set sail on our 2 week carribean cruise we will just be departing babados I think, I have lost weight got some bargains in the sales :-D had a good rumage round in my wardrobe and found 2 dresses and 1 evening wear cat suit that I brought last year and didnt fit me, and I forgot I had...and 1 pair of tap shoes which are causing me great amusement this morning... :-D :-D

Rambling Report 8 Jan 2012 13:11

Muffy, I think dogs are a real blessing :-D lol even the gerbils make me laugh, they are very small but have surprisingly large personalities. The black one thinks she is Steve McQueen in terms of 'the Great Escape'...no barrier too high :)

~~~~ Julia, re potatoes, some were evidently left in the ground last year and the foliage is now about 6 inches high... no frost as yet ....
Julie, I hope the radiotherapy will go well, everything crossed for you xx
ooh have a lovely time Hayley, I've always fancied a cruise.
Have you tried out the tap shoes? Now if you could tap and zumba at the same time it could be 'Britains got talent' for you this year ;-)
Silly Sausage
Silly Sausage Report 8 Jan 2012 13:16
Warning : wearing tap shoes causes you to get snorts and glares in all directions, I am off to zumba in a min Rose. :-D
Just about everything is making me cheerful, Rose, (sends s good luck wave to Julie). Am dusting right now and dancing to my new C & W cd, have written TWELVE things I want to achieve on my new Wish List, was delighted to get a nice comment on my Blog, hope to see son and grandchildren again soon, am thrilled to bits I have survived this year and feel so good, am grateful to my GR friends for their support, especially the one who keeps ringing me to see if I am still alive. :-D <3......all in all there is nothing in this world I would care to moan about.
*sends loads of Celtic Cheerful Dust to all :-D <3
ButtercupFields Report 8 Jan 2012 13:31
Rose, It helps if you write your list on a piece of paper which you really like. I waited until I found the perfect piece (for me!)...Good luck!
I am about to book a few days away for end of Jan, for the three of us (me, OH and dog) to Camber Sands. The dog has never seen the sea, and I love the beaches down there in winter. Don't care what the weather's like, it will certainly blow the cobwebs away!!
